During the 32 weeks students will be prepared for each aspect of the exam, both academic and general. In order to qualify for the Unemployed rate students must be in receipt of social welfare payments. These payments can include: FIS (Family Income Supplement) Unemployment benefit Unemployment assistance Disability allowance If you do not receive social welfare payments you must pay the full fee. ESOL Class Schedule 2015-2016 Semester 1: September 7th – December 18th (14 weeks) ALL Classes will start back week beginning September 7th MIDTERM BREAK: NO classes – Monday October 26th – Friday 30th Christmas Holidays – December 19th- January 10th Semester 2: January 11th – April 8th (10 weeks) ALL classes will start back week beginning January 11th MIDTERM BREAK: NO classes – Monday February 15th- Friday 19th Easter Holidays March 18th – April 3rd Semester 3: April 11th – June 30th (12 weeks) QQI CERTIFICATES Level 2/3/4/5– All QQI assignments/exams/portfolios will be submitted by the week ending June 30th. Some students may be asked to change level if the teacher feels that the level is too difficult/too easy for the student. Language & Literacy Classes for Asylum Seekers Registration & Assessment Venue The Adult Education Centre Ozanam Street Waterford Day & Date: Wednesdays 6-9PM Language and literacy classes for Asylum seekers will be held in our Adult Education Centres in Railway Square or in Ozanam Street – all classes will start the week beginning September 7th 2014. ESOL LITERACY CLASSES are provided to ESOL students who have problems with basic reading and writing skills. Students with literacy problems are identified at registrations and are offered ESOL Literacy classes in our Adult Education Centre in Railway Square. ESOL Literacy classes are offered at the following levels: Pre-Literate QQI Level 1 QQI Level 2 QQI level 3 IELTS - INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM The two most common Certificates of English Language Competence in Ireland are TOEFL and IELTS. For entry onto a full time undergraduate programme in WIT you need a score of 5.5 in the IELTS test with a minimum score of 5 in each component and for the TOEFL you need a minimum score of 70 with a minimum score of 15 in each component. IELTS and TOEFL courses are provided by a number of English Language Schools in the major cities of Dublin Cork and Galway. At present an IELTS Preparation course is provided by Waterford Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB) in their Adult Education Centre located on Ozanam Street, Waterford.
