World Studies: Latin America Project Based Learning 1. Expectations for your presentation. 100 points 2. You will each be assigned a country in Latin America for this presentation. You will be allotted a certain amount of time in class to work. If you need more time you will need to work on this project outside of the classroom You may use the IPad, but it is not an excuse to not have the presentation done. It does not have to be used. Driving Question for Unit II Project- Why would the United States want to have foreign relations with your country? What are the benefits to both countries- such as trade, foreign aid, military aid, alliance, etc.? You must also consider current events. In your project you need to show common similarities, relationships as the reasons for relations or the reason not to have relationship. Research Such areas as history, religion, culture, ancestry, climate and agriculture, industry, natural resources, economy (products, trade, agreements), government (similarities, foreign aid and treaties if any), also include current events that could effect the relationship…..etc. You will have 10 min. in class to present this project- You may do any presentation you wish , power point (Quick Point, Haiku Deck, Slideshark, etc.), collage, scrapbook or how ever you wish to present. You can even record your presentation if you wish. You do not have to use the IPad for the presentation if you wish. The bigger the better. Research.- 3-4 Days Class Time will be used for your research. Conversations with other is not going to be allowed. You may use your IPad for research in class on your country to answer the driving question. We suggest you take notes, and we willl give you a paper notetaking sheet for that purpose. Take only notes that answer the driving question. Too much extra information is not needed. What does the United States and this country have in common. IF it doesn’t answer the driving question do not use it. If you need more time we suggest you work outside of class IPad use is restricted to research and project development only in class, any other usage will result in the loss of the use of your IPad for the rest of that period. 3. Individual Project Development- 3-4 Days You may use your IPad for project development in class to answer the driving question. This is your project. Prepare your presentation as you see fit. Keep in mind it must answer the Driving question by telling us about your country and its similarities and relationships with the U.S. You must problem solve any problems you come up against. Use the information that you have researched to develop the project based on answering the driving question. IF you use a power point- Do not read your presentation to the audience and put very little writing on the slides- 4 lines of 4 words only. 4. Individual Presentations to the class. – 3-4 Days. You will have 10 min. maximum for the presentation A Rubric will be provided to guide you and explain how the final point total was arrived at. Your Project must begin with the answer to the driving question. Give as many reasons as you wish. Then go through all the areas and explain how they are related to the Driving Question. This is not a travelogue of your country you are answering the driving question with all the information you have found.. Did you meet the criteria? Failure by the IPad is not an excuse to not have this done. You do not have to use the IPad.
