The Semi-skilled staff are to work in conjunction with the Skilled staff and other Semi-skilled staff, to carryout the duties in relation to the Facilities and Services activities, encompassing various maintenance tasks in particular but not limited to the activities/tasks shown on the semi skilled operative skills matrix dated September 2012. 2. To assist Skilled staff, Supervisors or Managers in carrying out there duties as necessary on tasks in line with grade. 3. To carry out planned maintenance programmes and reactive works on any properties as directed by the Facilities and Services supervisor. 4. To assist in other tasks associated with the maintenance, repair or overhaul of stations and station equipment as directed by Facilities Services Supervisor or Manager at a Semi-skilled level. 5. To complete all documentation associated with your role whilst providing any necessary information to the Supervisor. 6. To take reasonable care for Health and Safety of themselves and for other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work. 7. To carryout cleaning duties in relation to their maintenance activities, encompassing various equipment (including departmental vans/workshop). 8. All other duties required to be undertaken in connection with reactive/Planned Preventative maintenance as instructed/directed by the station facilities supervisor or Manager in line with grade. Page 1 of 5 Version 1.3 MB 13.02.2013 JE Date: N/A RESPONSIBILITIES: The following list is typical of the duties which the post holder will be required to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar type or level may be required from time to time. 1. To complete all types of semi-skilled labouring and environmental works both inside and outside the properties as listed on the associated skills matrix, this is the minimum skill requirement for the operative and you will be expected to carry out any other works or tasks as directed by the Facilities Supervisors or Station Maintenance manager as requested. The skilled matrix will be reviewed and amended within the scope of the grade annually by the Station maintenance manager and unions or inline with changing business requirements. 2. To carry out day to day maintenance and repairs to Metro properties as instructed by the relevant Supervisor or Manager. 3. All work is to be carried out with the maximum of safety and a minimum of inconvenience to the travelling public. This work and the execution of same, must be carried out in compliance with the latest Health and Safety legislation and the company's Health and Safety policies. 4. To ensure that all duties and performance standards comply with: - Current Health & Safety Procedures Standards of Work Customer Care Requirements Service Quality Regime Station Presentation Specification Current Legislation and Approved Codes of Practice Working conditions normally inherent within the job specifications Current Building Regulations Safe systems of work 5. To operate any items of site plant and equipment such as dumper trucks, Fork Lift Trucks, trailers, Genie booms, grit blasting equipment, powered wash systems (Jet wash) snow ploughs, trailer towing etc and any future equipment relating to this role, once trained in the correct procedure and competent. 6. To partake in any ‘Emergency Return to Work’ where required and to Participate in a standby and callout roster and may be required to transfer to other teams at short notice for sickness and holidays and to dayshift for training needs with 3 days notice. 7. Semi Skilled Maintenance staff will be required to communicate by radio/telephone to enable them to keep in contact with the Station Controller at South Gosforth Control Centre or with the Supervisor/Manager as appropriate. The Semi Skilled Page 2 of 5 Version 1.3 MB 13.02.2013 JE Date: N/A Maintenance staff will be required to keep the Supervisor informed of their location as they could be directed to attend a breakdown without delay if necessary. 8. The work will be carried out on a permanent shift basis dependant upon the specific responsibilities/requirements of the DBTW business as appropriate. 9. The Semi-skilled Maintenance staff will also be required to drive the department vehicles for company business while complying with current safety guidance. 10. The Semi-skilled Maintenance staff will be required to undertake any training and authorisation deemed necessary by the management. 11. To report to Supervisors/Manager on issues such as task done/time taken/ material used/not used etc and to fully complete all paper work in relation to job recording and vehicle usage. 12. To carryout Lookout man/WSC duties if trained in the correct procedures. 13. Proactively managing faults/failure issues highlighted while working around the network in order to make DBTW SQR Compliant. STATUTORY DUTIES: 1. 2. Responsible for managing those elements of the safety management system allocated to the DBTW Metro Customer Service Directorate and specifically to the role of Semi-skilled Maintenance Operative. Responsible for carrying out duties and ensuring procedures are in place to meet legislative and company standard requirements for the DBTW Metro Customer Service Directorate functions. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Essential Must be able to demonstrate experience of and competence with all work processes associated with the maintenance discipline, and demonstrate a flexible approach to completing tasks. Must have the ability to work as an individual or part of a team Be available to undertake shift work, Standby and Call Out Duties. Current full UK driving licence Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of and experience with equipment and systems for which the Facilities and Services section is responsible, within the limits of their own responsibilities. Must be able to work within and enforce the organisational standard, procedures and controls. Personal Track Safety. PASMA access platform operation. Good working knowledge of Metro Rules and Regulations.
