CELL ANALOGY POSTERS
Due Date:________________
SB1. Students will analyze the nature of the relationships between structures and functions in
living cells.
This will count as a test grade. Everyday late will be 10 points off. No posters will be accepted
after 3 days late.
Draw a plant, or animal in pencil unlined paper and color it. Include all the structures that are
applicable.
Cell / plasma membrane
Cell wall
Cytoplasm
Chromatin
Centriole
Nucleus
Cytoskeleton
Nucleolus
Cilia
Flagella
Mitochondria
Golgi apparatus
Lysosome
Vacuole
Nuclear envelope
Endoplasmic reticulum
vesicle
ribosome
chloroplast
1- Correctly label your cell as a plant or animal.
2- Find out the function – or main job – each structure has in the cell. Read your book, check the
glossary, use your class notes or check your hand outs for clues.
3- Find a picture of an everyday object, which has a similar function, or use as each cell structure.
Write an analogy to show the similarity between the cell part and the everyday object. Be sure to
explain your analogies. EXAMPLE: A nucleus is like a brain because the nucleus controls and
coordinates the activities of the whole cell in the same way a brain controls and coordinates
the activities of the body.
4- Paste your cell drawing in the middle of the poster board.
5- Paste the pictures of the everyday objects at the edges of the board. Label the picture with your
NEATLY written or typed analogies and a pointer pointing to the correct structure within the cell
drawing.
6- Analogies must be a unified theme. Ex: all analogies are parts of a city, all parts of factory, etc.,
Not random unconnected analogies.
