Children engage by ‘having a go’ at some Indian dancing using the Bollywood DVD which demonstrates clear step by step instructions with music. Ask the children the following: Why do people dance? How do you think it makes them feel? What can dance represent? Are there different types of dancing? Do we dance for different reasons? Explain to the children that often Hindus celebrate their religious beliefs and festivals through traditional Indian dancing. Introduce the key question: How Does Worshipping God Make a Difference to Hindus? Enquire Develop questions about Hindus and their religious What questions do we need to ask in order to better understand how worshipping God makes a difference to Hindus? Create enquiry questions with the children, ideally these questions should be generated by the beliefs. Suggested Week 2 Explore children but could include the following: E.g. What is a Hindu? How do they worship? Who do they worship? Are there different types of Hindu worship? Why do Hindus worship? Where do they worship? When do they worship? What do they use to worship? Using large sheets of paper on each table with one of each of the children’s questions ask the children to circulate and add their own views to each question. – have we answered our questions? Discuss any differences and similarities. Suggested Week 4 Focus back to the key question. Express The final task is introduced. Children answer the key question ‘How does worshipping god make a difference to Hindus?’ with one of the following activities: Children to design and make a quiz or game about Hindu worship Children can choose to either make a board game, a card game (Top Trump style) or use the laptops and make a ‘who wants to be a millionaire?’ style quiz, although all the games must involve questions and answers about Hindu worship and how this makes a difference to their lives.
