DIRECTIONS FOR OBTAINING APPROVAL TO COMPLETE FIELD OBSERVATION Steps to Student Observation / Student Teaching GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Student Observation 1. Research the campus (es) you wish to observe and note carefully their requirements. There is no guarantee of a student teacher / observation assignment preference 2. Bring copy of valid driver’s license(front and back), completed personal information sheet, and background check (not more than six months old) from local county court office to the Office of Student Teaching and Field Experiences (OSTFE) 3. Unless otherwise stated, submit documentation to district HR department in person including completed background check form. Where required to apply online, print copy. 4. If required, the student observation authorization letter is available from the Office of Student Teaching 5. Observations can be completed at any school certified by the Texas Education Agency Student Teaching 1. Satisfy all student teaching requirements as timely as possible with the Office of Student Teaching 2. Provide information re: campus preference, certification area, and grade level desired, other special request (e.g. from the Office of Disabilities) etc. 3. Complete relevant school district application / background check authorization form from list of approved districts for student teaching 4. The Office of Student Teaching and Field Experiences will submit candidates’ documentation for student teaching to the school districts SCHOOL DISTRICT ALDINE ISD ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR OBSERVERS Submit, in person (no exceptions), course description required CYFAIR ISD WALLER ISD 1. Submit PVAMU observation approval letter and driver’s license to Cy Fair ISD Human Resources Dept 2. HR office will contact campus and finalize placement and contact student observer with placement information. Placement process is minimal and student may be placed for observation as soon as the next business day. Student Teaching/Observation Assignment Form must be completed. Director of Student Teaching signature is required If background results and campus request are approved, the administration will contact the student to set up schedule. Applicants may contact the HR Dept for status 5 days after forms are submitted to Waller ISD. SPRING ISD Office of Student Teaching and Field Experiences verification needed. Process usually takes 3-5 business days or less HOUSTON ISD 1. 2. 3. 4. Inform campus administration of intent Go to the Houston ISD website to complete application packet Submit completed forms to HISD Human Resources office Contact preferred campus administration to communicate specifics of assignment, i.e. certification level, placement/s, etc. HEMPSTEAD ISD 1. Submit completed Application for Student Teaching/Observation Assignment Forms to Hempstead ISD Human Resources Dept. If application and schedule is approved the student is contacted. 2. Applicants may contact the HR Dept for status 5 days after forms are submitted to Hempstead ISD. LAMAR CISD 1. Complete the “Volunteer Application” at www.lcisd.org . 2. After you have submitted the “Volunteer Application,” email, Human Resources Technician with the following information: 1. First and last name ; Home address; Name of program requiring observation hours; Type of degree and certification; 2. The number of observation hours needed; Preferred campuses. 3. If approved, placement is within 3 – 5 business days SHELDON ISD Contact the Human Resource Dept to complete background check. COME ON A WEDNESDAY ONLY - BEFORE 12 NOON Bring driver’s license FORT BEND ISD Student needs to complete the Criminal History Application online at: http://www.fortbendisd.com/departments/humanresources/student-teacher-observation-hours Observations are only scheduled from mid-September to the end of November and mid-January through the end of April. Do not report to a campus without scheduling your visit. All applicants completing a criminal history application will receive an email within 3 -5 business days NAVASOTA ISD COLUMBUS ISD Student Observation Authorization Letter needed ALVIN ISD MAGNOLIA ISD Contact preferred campus and provide principal with detailed information Campus/student will contact HR to complete a background check. Observation are from September - March 1 in the following certification areas only: Special Education EC-12 Fine Arts (all areas) EC-12 Bilingual Education EC-4 English as a Second Language (ESL) EC-12 Generalist 4-8 Math 4-8; 8-12 Science 4-8; 8-12 Foreign Languages (Spanish and French) 6-12 All other areas by written request only and with limited availability BRENHAM ISD CALVERT ISD GALENA PARK ISD Contact campus to schedule observation times. Present letter to Campus Administrators. KATY ISD Complete the KISD Application packet and submit: a. KISD Observation Procedures and Guidelines form; b. Observation Hour Request Form; c. Observation General Information Sheet; d. Consent to Perform Criminal History Background Check ; e. Letter or syllabus for course requirements related to classroom observation. Processing requests takes a minimum of 10 days. Deadline: 2nd week in November CONROE ISD PASADENA ISD Contact preferred campus and check for availability. HR will return to signed and approved form to the student. Take the approved application to campus administrator with an observation schedule.
