Dear Stakeholders, Please complete the letter below and address to the attention of the appropriate Senator from your state. A list of Senators and their contact information is included in this document. The letter requests that the 50-cent-per-gallon alternative transportation fuel credit (which includes propane Autogas) be attached to the tax cut legislation currently being considered by the Senate. Please have each member of your company or organization submit an individual letter, as this will have a greater impact than one letter per group. Please: 1. Identify the Senator for your state and type their name in the two portions of the letter colored in red (the top address section and the “Dear Senator ________” section) – then change the font color to black 2. Indicate whether you are an employee or an owner of your organization and indicate the type of organization and its name (both in paragraph 1) 3. Enter your state in the blank section of paragraph 1 4. Type your name at the bottom of the letter where indicated 5. Print the letter and sign your name at the bottom above your printed name 6. Locate the fax number for your Senators on the list at the bottom of this document and fax the letter to their attention (Note: only the letter should be faxed – not including this note or the contact list) If you have not already done so, I encourage you to sign the Autogas for America letter of support and opt to be listed as a supporter on the Autogas for America website. Thank you for your support. Best regards, Stuart Weidie 1 Senator FIRST NAME LAST NAME U.S. Senate Washington, D.C. 20510 To the Honorable Senator LAST NAME: I am writing to express my concern regarding the expired alternative energy tax incentives. Specifically, I believe that the 50-cent-per-gallon alternative transportation fuel credit (which includes propane Autogas) should be included in the middle-class income tax package, as proposed by Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and supported by Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.). As an [employee/owner] of [company type and name] and a resident of the state of _________, I am concerned that the expiration of these credits has hindered Autogas market growth in 2010. Alternative energy incentives are a great means of encouraging growth in America’s alternative fuels sector and are important to the effort of reducing America’s dependence on foreign oil; I feel strongly that the 50-cent-per-gallon alternative transportation fuel credit (which includes propane Autogas), should be included in this legislation. Propane Autogas is a byproduct of natural gas refining and it offers the same environmental and energy security benefits as natural gas. It is a domestically produced, clean-burning fuel and is typically much less expensive than gasoline. Additionally, several propane Autogas vehicle conversion and infrastructure programs have been funded by grants from the federal government – programs that will benefit greatly from fuel and infrastructure incentives. I believe that all domestic energy sources – especially those that have a proven track record of safety, reliability and emissions reductions – should be considered when Congress reevaluates government incentives to support the adoption of alternative fuels in America. Propane Autogas is an important part of our clean energy future and will play a key role in reducing U.S. dependence on foreign oil. Congress worked hard to craft substantial energy policy legislation, enacted in 2005, that created three tax incentives designed to increase alternative fuel use, including propane Autogas; this legislation fostered positive market growth and new job development within the industry. Please support the extension of the 50-cent-per-gallon alternative transportation fuel tax credit. Thank you for your time and consideration.
