Find a Space (warm up) Children walk/jog/skip
freely around the hall or yard using different
pathways. When the teacher says "find a space"
the children tiptoe around to find a space of their
own. The teacher counts 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - stop! If
the children are well spread out they win a point.
If not, teacher wins a point. Repeat several times.
VAK X curric. KUW, PSED
Individual Ball Work Using medium sized balls
or beanbags, ask the children to show you what
they can do with the ball, USING THEIR
HANDS. Ask the children to explore different
ways of using the ball WITH THEIR HANDS
e.g. bouncing; passing it from hand to hand;
throwing and catching; throw up - bounce - catch;
throw up - clap - catch. Allow the children to
watch;
 a child who demonstrates good technique
(which is successful)
 the teacher demonstrating unsuccessful
methods (exaggerate the movements)
 Ask them to describe what they see.
Why is one method successful and the other not?
(e.g. Not looking at the ball; not moving hands in
line with the ball; not moving feet when necessary)

Follow the Leader (warm up)
Children work in pairs (A and B). They take it in
turns to travel around in different ways (e.g. Run,
walk, hop, skip, jump) following different pathways
(e.g. Curved, zigzag, weaving in and out). The
partner has to keep 1 metre behind the leader,
copying what they do and where they go. Swap roles
several times on the teacher’s instruction. VAK X
