PIA SUMMER SCHOOL AGENDA
Wednesday, June 11th
1pm-5pm The Long Term Care Partnership by Angie Hughes, LTCP, Producers XL
4 hrs LH
In 2006, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) updated its Long-Term Care Insurance
Model Act, for the first time incorporating mandatory training for long-term care producers. The training
requirements were designed so that they would fulfill the DRA’s provisions, and the requirements were referenced
in many of the State Plan Amendments (SPAs) submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
(CMS) by states implementing Partnership programs. The LTC Partnership is a dollar for dollar protection
of assets against Medicaid spend down. For every dollar paid out of a qualified LTC Partnership policy is a
dollar of assets protected from Medicaid spend down. This becomes a very big deal when it comes to our
KS farmers and business owners and families when a loved one needs extended care due to an illness, injury
or just the natural aging process. So with that being said, we are excited to offer you the chance to become LTC
certified and receive 4 hrs of L/H continuing education credits.

8:30am – “Back to Basics” Boot Camp Staff Training by Becky Lathrop, CIC, CPIA, Optimum Performance Solutions LLC
11-30am
Every agency is challenged with handling customer requests effectively every time the telephone rings. It is
3 hrs Gen critical to meet customer expectations on a regular basis, but it is also important to utilize every customer
contact to provide world class service to ensure every client receives information for proper insurance
protection. This course utilizes an ‘agency toolbox’ to review different techniques and tools to assist with every
customer’s interaction. We focus on the most efficient way to handle these contacts for a positive customer
experience and time management for the agency. This session will help agency staff maximize operational
effectiveness with all incoming phone calls and customer appointments. Role-playing examples will allow
everyone to capture the best way to handle current challenges every agency and customer faces in our current
environment.

objectives of this seminar are to provide
participants with the knowledge, skills, and
understanding to comprehend the Standard
Flood Insurance Policy and provide
attendees with knowledge of the rules and
regulations of the National Flood Insurance
Program.
Accordingly, the seminar has been
