Steps for On-line Filing - Provisional
1. Prepare drawings with reference numbers and lead lines (note
number of sheets)
2. Write specification (text) including detailed description of
drawings (note number of pages)
3. Save files for submitting – all pdf with continuous name (no
spaces)
4. Go to efiling forms:
http://www.uspto.gov/patents/process/file/efs/guidance/Form_fill
able_pdfs_available.jsp
5. Select, then fill out AIA/14 (save as pdf with no spaces)
6. Fill out SB21, and save as pdf
7. Also, if claiming micro entity status, fill out form SB15A :

8. Go to USPTO EFS-web link for electronic filing

9. Pick type of application (Utility, then Provisional
10. Start adding files: Select from drop down lists, AIA/21 is
a application cover sheet, AIA/14 is part of the application.
Then download the appropriate file name:
Do NOT include credit card payment form
11. Add all 4 forms, and SB15A is claiming micro-entity
12. Click on Continue and fill in appropriate boxes
13. At end, select Pay by Credit Card now, and enter info.
