Capital Resources for Early Educators Fund Questions and Answers Released on 10-23-13 Eligibility 1. Our site provides after-school care to children ages 3 to 8 in a public school facility. We are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Are we eligible to apply? Yes, from the facts that you have stated including that you are licensed, serve children at a location in the city of Boston, and serve some number of children younger than age 6, you are eligible to apply. Note that you must also be serving at least one child who demonstrates significant financial need, and the program must be in good fiscal and legal standing with the state. Required Documents 2. Can we scan the hard copy documents and email them to you? No. The required document must be mailed to us. Grant Process 3. We are a lead agency, and we also have two providers who are applying on their own. Which tax id number do the two providers applying on their own use? The two providers applying on their own should use their own tax id numbers. If awarded, the grant check will go to the two providers directly and they will each receive an IRS 1099 form at the end of the year. 4. How detailed do we need to be in the timeline describing how we plan to make capital improvements in our site(s)? You need to provide United Way with enough detail that we can be confident that you can complete the project within the grant period (before May 31, 2014). Budget Questions 5. Do we need to include three quotes in the online application? No. You do not need to provide the three quotes in your online application. However, you must keep the three quotes on file in case you are audited. An auditor will expect to see evidence that you received three quotes and selected a vendor based on the best fit for your program. 6. I didn't apply for all that I was eligible. After the grant can I apply for the remaining amount I was eligible for? No. The amount that you applied for is what you will be considered for. 7. How much is the system is eligible for? 1 A family child care system or lead agent may apply on behalf of up to 15 sites. For each site the family child care system / lead agent must complete an online application and submit required paperwork. For each site, the family child care system should determine how many children are enrolled at that site, and therefore how much funding that site is eligible to apply for. 8. Could I apply for mirrors? As this is not one of the pre-approved items in the first four categories, you would request this item in the “Other” category.
