January Meeting Review Mark Clarkson-“Collecting US Paper Money” Highlights: buy various guide books available, federal reserve notes printed 1914 (saddle blanket bills), current size bills were produce in 1928, certificates redeemable in gold discontinued in 1934, “In God We Trust” first appeared in 1963. This was also the date for the $1 reserve note. Prior to that year all $1 bills were Silver Certificates. Mark showed design changes over the years. Star bills were explained. Youth Meeting: . The Youth Numismatic meeting was held prior to our general meeting. 10 scouts attended. Winners, were as follows: Ontime drawing: Michael Jordan The raffle winners were: Paul Romesburg x3, Jon Marish x2, Bill Hickman x2, Tom Spohn x2, Lloyd Chan x2, Karen Stephenson, Glenn Stephenson, and Don Hill The 50/50 raffle: There was $100 in the pot. Edwin Hoffmark Jr. was the winner. Show & Tell: There were 10 presenters. The winner was Lyle Okamoto. Membership Drawing: Maureen Owens was present to win our 50th Anniversary Silver Medallion. Announcements: Guests in attendance were: John Arkoosh Jr., Paul Thomson, Ron Grant and from the Livermore Coin Club Sharon & Steve Kramer. Also attending were Edwin Hoffmark Jr. and Lloyd Chan who joined as new members. Dates for the San Jose and Livermore Coin Shows were given. Bob Luna requested that we consider changing our start time to 6:30 p.m. James Laird advised this could not be done. Annual banquet will be Saturday, 3/26/11 at Marie Callenders. The cost will be $20 per person. The board of directors decided our October Coin Show raffle will consist of 3 gold coins and 17 Morgan Silver Dollars. There will be 4,000 raffle tickets for sale with advertising on the back of each ticket.
