St. Louis Chapter President’s Message
Dear fellow Chapter Members,
Great, economical CPE is hard to find. As your IMA St. Louis Chapter President, I want to introduce you to a terrific
opportunity for just that - great, economical CPE!
On September 13 and 14, 2007, the Heartland Regional Council of the IMA will hold its 7th Annual Educational
Conference in Springfield, Missouri. I have attended 4 of these conferences. The speakers and topics are FIRST
CLASS. Don’t take my word for it. Judge for yourself. You can check out the conference by clicking here.
The cost for 17 hours of CPE is $275 per person (if you sign up before 8/24/2007). In addition, the Heartland Council
is extending Bronze Sponsor pricing to other IMA Chapters. This means, if we get 5 or more members from the St.
Louis Chapter to attend, the price drops to $250 per person. Even with 2 days lodging and evening meals (continental
breakfasts and lunches will be provided), your out-of-pocket cost should still be less that $500. This is only $29 per
CPE hour! Compare that to MSCPA at $32 and Lorman Educational Services at $42 - neither of which include meals
or lodging. THIS IS A FANTASTIC DEAL!!!!
New this year will be the Conference “kick-off” dinner & speech on Friday September 12. The featured speaker will be
the former Attorney General of the United States, John Ashcroft.
Please join me in attending this conference. You may register online or by fax. Please remember to designate your
membership as the St. Louis Chapter. Also, please let me know you are attending. We are getting a couple of carpools together.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Nike is looking too!
Take an idea. Make it a product. Get it into the pipeline. Share it with the world. Sounds simple, but, of course, the devil's
in the details. At Nike's In-House Manufacturing and Distribution Divisions, we manage every detail, making sure great
ideas become great products for athletes everywhere. What does this mean for you? In the best situations it means you'll
push your colleagues to do their best work, and they'll turn around and do the same for you. And the details? Take a look
and see for yourself.
As our Senior Cost Accountant, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and continually improving the standard cost

industrial engineering information through the business functions that contribute data to the process; and coordinate any
required changes with the IT function to troubleshoot as required and effect programming changes accurately and timely.
You’ll interpret and report events and practices that have an impact on product cost operations and provide cost/benefit
analysis to the business for any proposed changes to the manufacturing process to enhance quality, reduce product cost and
to improve product or machine performance. You’ll assist in developing overhead rates by platform, department and/or
work center and budgets and forecasts, perform cost rolls for standard updates and provide analysis of changes. You’ll also
coordinate a formal Cycle Count Program. You’ll investigate significant physical variances to determine root causes and
recommend specific courses of action to resolve problem areas. You’ll perform periodic obsolescence and other valuation
reviews and support production LEAN initiatives and assist in quantifying improvements made in operations through
kaizen events. You’ll apply consistent standards, policies, procedures, processes and metrics between facilities. You’ll also
ensure conformity to Nike corporate policies as applicable. In addition, you’ll participate in formulating and implementing
new methods, policies and programs to enhance cost and internal controls through industry research and benchmarking and
