Respectful Parenting
1. What did you learn from the guest speaker? What was the best thing about his/her
presentation?
The info was and is so helpful. She had & has so much wisdom & eye opening info. I just loved
her!
She was entertaining, enthusiastic.
It’s okay to be honest about your feelings & needs with your children.
A lot-too much to say! Loved the humor and honesty. Loved the stories & examples.
How to better communicate with my 11 yr old son.
I don’t have to do things the way I have always done them.
Powerful-we want our children to thrive & soar. Loved the question answer session at the end.
Validation that mutual respect & mutual learning is important in parenting.
Respectful parenting-how to communicate respectfully & openly to my child and how to pass that
info to my clients/parents struggle with their children.
Learn to respect my children’s limits, very personal examination of myself on my reaction to the
situation.
To do away with old style parenting & start embracing respectful parenting.
Getting rid of the old school parenting “thinking.”
Applying problem solving skills and discussion to children-using adult common sense w/ kids and
how to respectfully relate to people of all ages.
A great review of parenting from a great perspective. Her enthusiasm and examples.
How to create home environments that stimulate responsibility, resiliency, and academic
achievement.
Wonderful role-playing ideas on respectful parenting.
Respectful parenting-old way vs. new.
2. How does the information presented apply to your life? How will you use what you learned
from the guest speaker?
I can apply this info in my personal life as well as my job. I will use what I’ve learned at home &
at work.
In family & work.
I am a mom of 3 children (17, 14 & 7yrs)-responses for teens-Great stuff!
Personally & professionally with my 17month old daughter and my high school students.
It applies to every part of my life. I will use it in my personal life and work.
18mon old granddaughter 18 yr & 19yr old boys that still, now more than ever need me to be
respectful-loving-engaged parent.
I work with families from DHS. I will use this info when educating parents about their relationship
with their children.
Teaching my clients about mutual respect and parenting my step children.
Work and personal
Eliminate the power struggle of whose decision is best. I will use the awe factor.
I have 2 kids of my own that I can practice respectful parenting, but also pass along the info to my
clients.
I am a new mom. I have an 18mon old and have another one on the way.
I’m not a parent, but in my personal life, I can use these skills w/ my nephews and in the future.
Professionally (and personally) I can share the info & skills w/ parents I encounter.
It applies directly to the work I do. The info will enhance that work.
I will be teaching character and responsibility through modeling and the application of respectful
parenting instead of punishment.
With both work & family. I will incorporate it within my work & use it. I will also use it with my
own children.
I can share it with my children who are parents. And use what I learned with my grandchildren.
3. What was your least favorite part of the presentation? What could he/she improve upon or
add to their presentation?
I wanted to learn more so maybe a longer amount of time with her.
Need to move it along faster…and break it up. Info was good but for us a little repetitive.
Wish it was longer!
N/A
In short need more time to hear/learn.
I could have listened longer. Expand the time & info.
All if it was great-I do not feel anything needed to be improved.
I would just like to complete more of a complete seminar.
Lack of interaction w/ students.
More time!
All the info she provided was interesting.
It was kind of short. It would have been nice to expand on limits, consequences, and reinforcing
the “unequal” aspect of respectful relationship.
All good.
She was great! I would love her to share her book.
Nothing, she is fantastic.
4. What were your expectations of the guest speaker? Were they met? Why or why not?
