The role of the PEN Level 3 is to practice at an advanced level with a complex and critical approach to clinical
care that encompasses an increased breadth of knowledge, skill and clinical judgment. Roles undertaken may
include specialist domains such as Education, Quality and Liaison roles, including leadership. An understanding
of the legal and ethical responsibilities under relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act 2014, is
essential and scope of practice remains within these provisions. The PEN3 will act as a role model and practice
within the core values of MPHI. Overall, the clinician will form an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team and will
be required to provide highly responsive and flexible service to consumers and carers, whilst upholding a high
level of professionalism.

Qualifications &
Requirements:
Registration with AHPRA, Division 2 with Psychiatric endorsement.
Can provide evidence of achievement of four out of the ten Advanced Enrolled Nurse Level 3 Competency
Standards (as per Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement 2012-2016)
AND Either: (i) A minimum of five years post registration experience as a PEN; or (ii) A post registration
qualification (of at least 6 months or 200 hours duration) a component of which is relevant to current
environment/role.
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Proven ability to work successfully in a multi-disciplinary team
 Genuine interest in all aspects of service specialty

 Valid police check and Working With Children’s Check
