As I began my multi-genre project I had to think about how I wanted to present the information I found to others. As I read the information I always was thinking how should this be presented to others. I first began by Oprah’s childhood. I found many pictures of Oprah when she was a child. I thought that putting those pictures together on a page and writing some commentary about her childhood. I pasted the pictures on a page like a scrapbook and put some facts with each picture. I thought this would be a good way to help others visualize what Oprah was like as a child. I then wrote a diary entry by Oprah. I know that most teenagers would write in a diary so when Oprah got accepted to college it would be fitting to put that information into a diary entry format. Next I added a chart that lists the actors and actresses in The Color Purple. This format is an interesting way to let others see that Oprah was in the movie and it lets others see what other actors and actresses she worked with in the movie. I also put an interview into my project. This is a great way for people to “hear the voice” of Oprah. Even though I really did not hear the interview I can sense her voice in the interview. I then included a poem about Oprah. After reading about Oprah’s life I was inspired to write a poem about Oprah. She really astounded me the way she has worked hard and really succeeds in life. Last I included some certificates to show some of the awards that Oprah and The Oprah Winfrey Show has won in the past. I also included a list of books that I learned Oprah had read in her book club. The Oprah Magazine is also an important aspect of her life so I included a list of things that can be found in every issue. No other kind of research has excited me like the multi-genre project has. As I read and researched I had a whole different thinking process. I was always thinking how can I present this to others that do not know this information. I enjoyed doing this project and plan to use this in my class. Outline for Multi-Genre Project Fourth Grade A.
