o Effectively controlled the accident and injury costs of a $98 million risk management budget.
o Lowered operating expenses by transferring ESH responsibility and accountability to operational

Led activities of the Human Resources and the Training & Management Development functions; a staff of 22
professionals; over $3M budget.
 Strategically partnered with senior management to successfully integrate HR with training and

compliance and AAP programs.

 Designed innovative, cost effective methods to reduce risk management costs by 50%, an annual
savings of $843K, and reduced claims by 26% in the Recycling business.
 Produced and delivered results-oriented training for District Vice Presidents in the Medical Waste
business, in conjunction with environmental attorneys, that eliminated Notices of Violations from over
fifty per year to zero.
 Obtained new permits, reviewed and revised existing plant permits. Worked directly with OSHA and
environmental regulatory personnel during inspections and follow-up meetings.

Western Region, Sun Valley, California
1994-1997
Managed the ESH program for the Western United States; approximately 100 plants. Managed four ESH and five
claims management professionals.
 Reduced vehicle accidents by more than 20% through a formalized driver-training program and
managing driver hours of service, resulting in a $418K savings for the year.
 Designed and piloted the first Certified Environmental Coordinator Training program which became a
requirement for all ESH Managers.
 Performed environmental due diligence on potential acquisitions and conducted ESH audits of third
party disposal sites to prevent future liabilities.

lean, highly motivated staff of five professionals and three clerical employees.

 Designed and developed award winning ESH videos such as Handling and Managing Asbestos Waste

Managed the plant safety, industrial hygiene, fire prevention and security programs for thirteen manufacturing plants;
4,400+ employees. Established programs to achieve compliance with OSHA, EPA, Workers Compensation and
other federal, state and local regulations.
 Strengthened the safety programs: reduced the OSHA Recordable Incident Rate by 23%, lowered the
Lost Time and Restricted Duty Cases Incident Rate by 27%.
 Wrote Safety and Industrial Hygiene policies and procedures for publication in the new “GE Lighting –
Safety, Health and Environmental Manual.”
Safety and Environmental Engineer

1985-1988
Managed the safety, industrial hygiene and environmental programs at the electronics manufacturing and assembly
business with 2,000+ employees. Served as the ESH contact for the entire GE Defense Systems Division. Provided
interpretation, guidance, counsel and technical direction on safety and environmental issues to all operational
components.
 Managed all environmental projects including the closure of an RCRA permitted wastewater treatment
plant.
