2013 CEBEI Awards for Incredible People
This year five awards were made at our Bangor Conference
Anne Breese, Incredible Educator
Anne is a class teacher at Ladywell Green School and an IY Advisory
Teacher in Powys. She was nominated by Tracey Havard SENCO in
Ysgol Golwg y Cwm, Ystradgynlais and Dr. Sue Evans, Powys Lead for
the Incredible Years Programme.
Tracey writes ‘Anne is a true IY disciple who is able to pass on her
enthusiasm and passion to everyone that she makes contact with.’
Sue Evans writes ‘Anne has supported the rollout of IY programmes in
Powys as Community Advisory Teacher and class teacher in Ladywell
Green School. She is an accredited peer coach in Classroom Dina and Teacher and Parent
programme leader. She does an excellent job in coaching teachers to implement Dina following
training. In addition she is delivering the Parenting programme as training for early years setting
staff. Anne embodies all of the IY principles in her work with children, families and teachers and
it is a pleasure to work with her.’
Christine and Colin King, Incredible Caretakers
Christine and Colin are caretakers at Coed Mawr School and
Coed Mawr Community Centre.
They were nominated by Bridget Roberts, Child Psychologist,
and Karen Holloway, Heath Visitor, for working tirelessly in
the support that they gave to the delivery of the Incredible
Years Baby programme, setting up the centre, helping to clear
up and making sure that the centre was kept clean, safe and
welcoming for the parents and babies.
Andrea Edwards, Incredible Teacher
Andrea is Deputy Head, Pen Coch Specialist Primary School, Flintshire.
Andrea was nominated by Gail Bennett, Flintshire Parenting Strategy
Coordinator, who writes that Andrea had identified the IY programmes
through her own research, accessed grants to train and equip staff and
taken the lead for a whole school IY approach at Pen Coch that includes
her vision to train all early years staff in the Teacher Classroom
Management, implementing the Dina curriculum and offer Parenting
programmes.
Liz Bassett and Karen Ford, Incredible Parent Group
Leader Team
Liz and Karen work at Cae’r Nant School, Flintshire.
They were nominated by Gail Bennett, Flintshire Parenting
Strategy Coordinator, who wrote that they were the first staff in
Flintshire to deliver the School Readiness Parent programme
and are passionate about their work. They have recently moved
to a new school where they are continuing their work with parents and, following training, are now
planning to deliver the Pre-school BASIC programme. They have taken on the wonderful
challenge of working with parents and making a difference to family life and each child in their
school.
Sophie Connolly, Incredible Parent
Sophie was nominated by Liz Bassett and Karen Ford, Family
Learning and Incredible Years Leads, Cae’r Nant School.
They wrote: ‘Sophie is an ‘Incredible Parent’ to four children. Since
attending an IY School Readiness course we have seen ‘incredible’
changes in her, her life plans and the positive impact on family life. Six
months on, she has passed her maths qualification, and is taking a
Psychology course – she says that doing the IY course made a
difference to her being accepted onto the course, and she is now receiving distinctions. To quote
Sophie, ‘I feel that I can take on the world’. She is now dealing with family and life situations
confidently and positively. Undertaking the IY course has been a life-changing experience for
Sophie and she is a ‘beacon’ in her school community.’
