CLASSWORK:
1. Reminders:
 On Monday, December 14th, you will “switch” to the Math side of the course
(staying in this room)
2. Question of the Day sheet for the week of December 7, 2015 (#28)
The following is from November 13, 2015. Critical Reading > Sentence Completions
(vocabulary). [This will be Friday, December 11th’s QOD, the last English QOD of
the course)
Their conversation was unsettling, for the gravity of their topic contrasted so oddly with
the------- of their tone.
(A) uniqueness
(B) rapidity
(C) lightness
(D) precision
(E) reverence
The correct answer is (c). Only “lightness” fits the logic of the sentence as being contrary
to the “gravity” of the topic. Listening to others discuss a grave (or serious) topic in a
light-hearted tone would be unsettling and confusing. Out of 36,724 responses, 57% got it
correct.
3. Here are the assignments you should be working towards mastering
 2012-13 SAT vocabulary, part one (#12) (mastery at 6 out of 6)
 Misplaced and Dangling Modifiers worksheet #1 (#15) (mastery at 20 out of
20)
 2012-13 SAT vocabulary, part two (#16) (mastery at 6 out of 6)
 Misplaced and Dangling Modifiers worksheet #2 (#29) (mastery at 10 out of
10 points)
 2012-13 SAT vocabulary, part three (#31) (mastery at 6 out of 6)

be the next standardized test they take
 You have to complete the English portions only for the exam you are given.
 If you would like OTHER practice exams, let me know, as I have a few more
SAT practice exams, I have four more ACT practice exams, and I have at least
one more PSAT practice exam.
