Electronic Site for Administrative Council: Sharepoint The Administrative Council was provided with a brief preview of the online secure program which will allow agendas, handouts, and minute drafts to be shared electronically with members of the Council. Ms. Wise will send an email to Council members with instructions on how to register on the site along with a request that members share the name and email of the assistant they wish to have access to the site on their behalf. 4. Business Continuity Planning The team overseeing this project is composed of Ms. Burns, Dr. Torner, Ms. Behne, and Ms. Carrizales. Moving forward, this planning will be called “University Continuity Planning.” The purpose of the planning is to allow the campus, from departments on up, to continue operations after an emergency. The process involves using an impact assessment questionnaire as a starting point; benchmarking will also be employed. Departments and divisions will be asked to identify essential functions that, if interrupted for a prescribed period of time, the department / division / campus could not do without. 5. Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and Accreditation Process Cal State San Bernardino is part of a pilot program so our accreditation process will be unique. Dr. Zorn shared the process and the timing of the various elements. We will need to demonstrate that we are a learning institution, which includes all divisions of the university (not simply academic units). She requested that websites required for the compliance audit checklist be sent to her and to Allen Butt by November 1. In addition, Dr. Zorn will ensure that a copy of the worksheet for preliminary self review is available for an upcoming Vice Presidents’ Council meeting for their ratings. 2 6. Proposition 30 Ms. Langford shared an update on educational outreach surrounding Proposition 30. She requested updates from members of the Administrative Council on any additional activities not reflected in her summary. Ms. Kray and Mr. Walker shared voter registration initiatives in place and/or underway. 7. Update: Budget Dr. Morales announced that Dr. Bodman and Mr. Gardner will convene a meeting of the University Budget Advisory Council after the November 6 th vote. 8. Update: Enrollment Management Ms. Rosas updated the Administrative Council on Fall 2012 Enrollment (3 days prior to census); Winter 2013 enrollment; Spring 2013 enrollment; and initial information on Fall 2013 applications. Resident headcount and full–timeequivalent-student (FTES) numbers are currently above target for the quarter. Mean Unit Load is currently 3.6% less than last year, which decrease is tied to the 17-unit cap. Dr. Morales thanked the entire enrollment management team for their efforts to have a robust and healthy enrollment for CSUSB. 8. Roundtable Ms. Langford announced that Grad Days will take place on October 23 and 24 at the Bookstore. Ms. Pringle shared the latest Advancement Dashboard Indicators. She noted that philanthropic productivity is down from last year, but the first planned gift of the year has come in. 3 Dr. Lopez-Wager announced that CSUSB will participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), administered to freshmen and seniors. CSUSB will also participate in iSkills, which measures critical thinking and information literacy. She has worked with Dr. Rincón and Dr. Clark to reach out to students regarding participation; Mr. Walker and ASI will also assist. Ms. Logue highlighted an email circulated to the campus concerning purchasing additional service credit. Those who are vested must send in their application by December 31, 2012. The ability to purchase service credit is being discontinued. Ms. Kray announced the annual Pow Wow will be taking place from October 1214. A voter registration table will be placed at the event. The recent Disability Sports Festival was very successful, with 2,500 attending and 900 participating. Mr. Gardner alerted the Council to increased traffic along University Parkway, particularly during peak travel times, and advised people to find alternate routes. CSUSB continues to try to work with the City of San Bernardino and CalTrans on making lane adjustments to assist with the bottleneck, but the City’s financial situation is a factor in moving ahead. In addition, the incomplete sidewalk at Northpark and University Parkway is also linked to the City’s financial situation. Ms. Rosas will provide Ms. Wise with a calendar of events to share with the Administrative Council. She also shared the awarding of a five-year, $1.5 million Upward Bound math and science grant. Dr. Morales updated the Council that he has appreciated his meetings with members of the faculty, members of the staff, and each of the Deans, along with everyone’s candor. He asked for patience as he continues to try to schedule meetings with those with whom he has not yet sat down. Minutes Prepared by T. Wise. 4
