LEADERSHIP
EXPERIENCE:
9/04-present
Laboratory Intern
Pacific Testing Laboratories, Valencia, CA
Worked with team of engineers and technicians in mechanical, chemical, metallurgical, and failure
analysis laboratories of the company. Adapted quickly and gained significant technical knowledge in
area of little prior background. Performed tensile, compression, and lap shear tests on metals,
composites, polymers, and adhesives. Performed viscosity tests on fluids and impact tests for eye
protectors per ASTM specifications. Analyzed polymers by FTIR for compound identification.
Performed data calculation and entry for Outgas tests per ASTM and NASA specifications and assisted
in metallurgical evaluation and failure analysis of various metals, electronic components, and printed
circuit boards and assemblies.
Research Assistant
Jisan Research Institute, Pasadena, CA
Quickly learned to program in two different computer languages and implemented them to investigate
the phenomenon of numerical evolutionary acceleration in the presence of evolutionary epochs through
extensive computational algorithms. Findings indicate that as an engineering specification, the design of
evolutionary systems utilizing epochs is necessary to have the additive quality for structural evolution.
Research was presented to the Proceedings of the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference in
Chicago, IL. Gained effective problem solving and communication skills from collaborating within a
team.
Fundraising Chairman
Korean Student Association (KSA), Stanford University
Responsible for organizing and obtaining funds for KSA social and cultural outreach events for Stanford
University students. Coordinate efforts with KSA Social, Culture departments and Treasurer.
6/03-8/03,
7/04-9/04
Tutor/Counselor
Pilgrim’s Academy, Arcadia, CA
Tutored for 4-6 hours a week preparing high school students to take Advanced Placement tests in
Biology and Calculus. Also provided student counseling and advising.
6/01-8/01
Community Service Intern
College View School, Glendale, CA
Oversaw a class of 12 autistic and handicapped children between ages 12 and 17 for 15 hours a week. Worked
with staff to plan and organize events as well as coordinate activities with three other classes of similar size.
SKILLS:
Technical: Able to perform FTIR/ATR spectroscopy, fluid viscosity measurements, preparation of resin
samples for microscopy and hardness tests
