Title : The responsibilities and duties of Officers and Staff of Psycho-Technical
Directorate shall be as detailed below:
1.
Executive Director/Traffic (Psychology)
a) Overall administrative control of technical and administrative matters related to
Psycho-Technical Dte.
b) Development of policies and strategies for Human Resource Development with special
emphasis on safety.
c) Guidance and supervision of Research studies, Developmental projects and Action
programmes.
d) Guidance and supervision in procurement of printed psychological tests for
research/recruitment testing, printing and maintenance of secret psychological tests and
used test records.
2.
Director/Psychology
a) Consultation and liaison with Railway Board, Zonal Railways and outside professional
institutions.
b) Supervision of Ergonomic Unit and Establishment matters connected therewith.
c) Matters related to Audit and Finance.
d) Establishment matters, viz., leave, creation/extension of posts, attendance and
punctuality.
e) Monitoring of Consultancy projects to outside agencies.
f) Coordination of ISO work.
g) Rajbhasha
3.
Senior Scientific Officer (Psychology)
a) Research and Developmental projects as assigned.
b) Technical monitoring and audit of psychological testing at Railway Recruitment Boards
and Zonal Railways.
c) Review of progress of Headquarters and Zonal Units and compilation of periodical
reports.
d) Maintenance, upgradation and procurement of computer based systems including
Optical Mark Reader.
e) Electronic data processing and Monitoring of Electronic data processing systems at
Zonal units including supply of related software.
f) Any other items/subject, assigned from time to time.
4.
Junior Scientific Officer (Psychology)
a) Development and procurement of psychological equipment and maintenance of PsychoTechnical Laboratory and assets.
b) Research & Developmental projects as assigned.
c) Psychological screening of High Speed Train Drivers.
d) Aptitude testing at Zonal Railways.
e) Disposal of obsolete and unserviceable equipment.
f) Any other items/subject assigned from time to time.

Scientific Supervisor Gr.I (Psychology) - I
a) Organizing trials, data collection, scoring, tabulation (manual/electronic) and analysis in
connection with research studies.
b) Render assistance in development and standardisation of psychological tests.
c) Preparation of draft reports of case studies and research projects.
d) Render assistance in organising Training Programmes and preparation of lecture notes.
e) Any other items of work allotted from time to time.
6.
Scientific Supervisor Gr.I (Psychology) - II
a) Organizing trials, data collection, scoring, tabulation (manual/electronic) and analysis in
connection with research studies.
b) Render assistance in development and standardisation of psychological tests.
c) Preparation of draft reports of case studies and research projects.
d) Render assistance in procurement of printed tests and printing of secret tests.
e) Maintenance and issue/return of secret psychological test material.
f) Any other items of work allotted from time to time.

Scientific Supervisor Gr.II (Psychology) - I
a) Organizing trials, data collection, scoring, tabulation (manual/electronic) and analysis in
connection with research studies
b) Render assistance in development and standardisation of psychological tests.
c) Maintenance of Departmental Library and Render assistance in procurement of books,
journals and periodicals.
d) Any other items of work allotted from time to time

a) Organizing trials, data collection, scoring, tabulation (manual/electronic) and analysis in
connection with research studies.

c) Render assistance in preparation of Budget estimates.

h) Psychological screening of High speed Train Drivers.
i) Maintenance of office building of P.T.D.
j) Any other items of work allotted from time to time.
11.
Artist
a) Preparation of drawings of tests, answer sheets, etc.
b) Preparation of Flip Charts, Transparencies, Charts and Power Point presentations for
Seminars, SMEs conferences and training programmes.
c) Upkeep and maintenance of all PCs and OMR and computer related consumables.
d) Scanning of documents/photos, reports, articles, etc using flat-bed scanner.
e) Maintenance of computer software.
f) Any other items of work allotted from time to time.

Development of statistical designs for R&D projects.
Collection of data from railways, its tabulation and statistical treatment.

a) Render assistance in analysis of case study reports of staff involved in accidents on the
Zonal Railways.
b) Collection of criterion-related data from the field in connection with research studies.
c) Statistical analysis of field data and interpretation of the results.
d) Preparation of periodical reports, PCDO, material for GCM and CBRR and other briefs.
e) Maintenance of Imprest.
f) Works programme.
g) Maintenance and upkeep of photocopier.
h) Any other items of work allotted from time to time.

a) Survey of literature in the area of Ergonomic Research.
b) Identify psychological equipment/aids to be used in Ergonomic Research projects.
c) Preparation of documentation notes in the field of Ergonomics and assist in procuring
books on the subject.
d) Render assistance in work related to ISO:9001:2000.
e) Drafting of project reports.
f) Project related field work/laboratory experiments.
g) Maintenance, upkeep and development of Ergonomic Laboratory and dead stock.
h) Calibration of measuring equipment in Ergonomic Laboratory.
i) Any other items of work allotted from time to time.
