I was the business writer responsible for covering all aspects of
business activity in the three-county circulation area. I was the
general assignment writer for the Hunterdon Courier News, an edition
concentrating on an expansion market. Provided extra features for the
five-week special section focusing on the economic outlook of the local
economy.
Feb. 2000-Oct. 2000 – Memphis Business Journal, Memphis, TN.
Reporter responsible for covering retail, architects, accountants,
engineers, attorneys, public relations and advertising industry, the
media and minority business. In addition to the daily duties of
researching and writing stories as well as nurturing sources, I was
responsible for small business profiles, personality profiles, and
generating stories for special emphasis sections.
Aug. 1998-Feb. 2000 – Foster’s Daily Democrat, Dover, NH.
Reporter responsible for covering all news in nine towns before moving
to the Portsmouth, NH office to cover the city’s business news. Four
months later I was relocated to the main office to cover the Dover
school system while maintaining half of the Portsmouth business beat.
In addition to covering municipal meetings I was responsible for
generating several stories a day, six days a week and features. Duty
rotations fell in 4-6 week intervals and entailed monitoring police and
fire radio traffic for a multi-city/town region, and responding to
emergencies for newspaper coverage.
Feb. 1998-Aug. 1998 – Nassau Community News Group, Mineola, NY
I was the editor for the Valley Stream MailLeader for which I was
responsible for all the local news content, including but not limited
to breaking news, features, calendars, and briefs. I was also
responsible for page layout decisions and taking most photographs.

Fall 2002/Spring 2003 – English teacher for Sumner County Board of
Education, Gallatin, TN. I was responsible for instructing
approximately 160 students in grammar and literature comprehension. I
was also responsible for student safety, discipline, grade reporting,
and classroom management.

April-August 2002 – Temporary administration for Staffmark in Gallatin,
TN. Assignments included: data entry for Tenncare contractor;
secretarial assistance for an accountant; receptionist/secretarial
duties for an industrial battery company.
May 2001-April 2002 – Temporary administration for Sterling Personnel
Services in Patchogue, NY. Assignments included: secretarial work at a
public high school; data entry for the Board of Continuing Education
Services; and miscellaneous administrative duties at the New York State
Department of Health, Long Term Care division in Hauppauge, NY. Duties
included database creation (Microsoft Access) and creating a hard-copy
filing system to track case progress at the local level for complaints
against long-term care facilities. Other duties included answering
telephones, preparing correspondence (Microsoft Word), correspondence
distribution, and evacuation plan image creation (Microsoft PowerPoint).
July 1994-July 1997 – U. S. Navy Seaman assigned to Naval Submarine
Base, Kings Bay, GA. Chief of Staff yeoman and administrative assistant
for Admiral of Submarine Group 10. I managed the Chief of Staff’s daily
and long-range schedules, provided support for various special projects
in an executive level office environment, provided direct
administrative support to the Rear Admiral and his immediate staff;
worked with senior officers (including nuclear submarine captains) and
civilians under highly sensitive conditions. I also performed
administrative duties for Port Services at Kings Bay and for Public
Works at Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, Cuba. I was certified Harbor
Controller for incoming/outgoing Trident class nuclear submarines.
