Assessment Strategies
Key Question #1: The students will demonstrate knowledge of how opening a business in Georgia takes
place. The students will complete a business project. THE STUDENTS WILL research one of the
following Georgia businesses using their textbooks and lap tops; Home Depot, Zaxby’s, Chick- Fil-A,
Paula Dean, Delta Air Lines, and Georgia Pacific, or they will create their own business as an
entrepreneur. The students will design an informative poster and they will present their project to the class.
THE STUDENTS WILL create a budget for their business based on the city their business is opened in.
THE STUDENTS WILL Create Posters which will include: the business history, projected budget, an
explanation on why there is a need for their business in the selected city within Georgia, and a colorful
illustration of their business.
(If a formal assessment, such as a quiz or rubric, is to be used develop this and include it as an attachment
to the end of the lesson)
Part One: Lesson Introduction ( This is brief usually 5-10 min):
As students come in THE TEACHER WILL tell them they will be completing a project this week
called I’m the Boss Project the students will have different tasks they will have to complete. THE
TEACHER WILL explain they can do the project with a partner or individually. THE TEACHER
WILL tell students to go ahead and decide if they want a partner or they want to work alone. Next
THE TEACHER WILL go around to each set of students and one student for each set will draw a
business out of the bag. The businesses are Paula Dean, Delta Airlines, Home Depot, Zaxby’s, Georgia
Pacific, and Coca-Cola. THE TEACHER WILL then go around with a second bag and the students
will draw to determine which city they want to open up their store in. THE TEACHER WILL pass out
the project instructions along with the rubric. THE TEACHER WILL go over the rubric with the
