In 1996 she started her studies at the University of Silesia, Faculty of Social Science, Katowice. Simultaneously Olga accomplished a course of “Sustainable development” organized by University of Silesia. In 2001 she defended her thesis Globalisation – background, symptoms and trends and was 1 awarded the title M.A. of Political Science. During her studies she was working as an English-Polish-English translator for General Motors. During her work she had opportunity to work on implementation of ISO 14000. In 2001 she started to work in the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (Science Center Berlin) as an intern. She was working with professor Udo. E. Simonis who is one of the worldwide recognized experts of global environmental governance and sustainable development. In Berlin she has had an opportunity to participate in many international conferences. In 2002 she returned back to Poland and started her work at Higher School of Economics and Humanities, Bielsko-Biała as the coordinator of Socrates-Erasmus programs. Olga Janikowska earned Ph.D. of University of Silesia. The topic of her PhD was on Role of Local Communities in Process of Implementation Sustainable Development. Case Study: Babia Góra Region. In order to meet the objectives of her Ph.D. she was using a behavioural study. From 2007 till now she is assistant professor at Katowice School of Economics (Górnośląska Wyższa Szkoła Handlowa im. Wojciecha Korfantego - GWSH) where she works at the Department of International Relations. Since 2009 she is also working at Vienna Department of Katowice School of Economics. Additionally she is responsible for communisation of GWSH with media. She was visiting lecturer at Euro-Mediterranean University, Slovenia, where she conducts postgraduate course on “Economic Policy”. She was a member of national research project entitled “Guide to sustainable development” and international project “Implementation of sustainable development in higher education”. She is collaborating with many polish universities where she conducts postgraduate course on Environmental Governance and European Strategies of Sustainable Development.
