TOK Movie Project
This project is a “Practice TOK Oral Presentation.” You will be presenting a movie TOKishly. Include an
overview of the movie for those who haven’t seen it, but focus your presentation on the TOK Knowledge
Issues that arise from the movie. You will need to select and show a movie clip (or clips) that add up to 510 minutes total. This clip should help illuminate the TOKish part of the movie.
In the “official” TOK project, each individual should speak/present for 10 minutes. For this presentation,
plan for an absolute maximum of 25 minutes for your entire group. The structure is up to you. Don’t be a
slave to Power Point. If you use Power Point, DON’T JUST READ THE SLIDES. Feel free to dress up,
role play, involve the class, lead a structured activity, use props/visual aids, etc. Make it interesting. We
should look forward to the movie presentation days!!!
Your presentation should include the following TOK jargon:
Knowledge Issues
Knowledge issues are questions that directly refer to our understanding of the world, ourselves
and others, in connection with the acquisition, search for, production, shaping and acceptance of
knowledge. These issues are intended to open to inquiry and exploration not only problems but also
strengths of knowledge. Students sometimes overlook the positive value of different kinds of
knowledge, and the discriminatory power of methods used to search for knowledge, to question it,
and to establish its validity. Knowledge issues can reveal how knowledge can be a benefit, a gift, a
pleasure and a basis for further thought and action, just as they can uncover the possible
uncertainties, biases in approach, or limitations relating to knowledge, ways of knowing, and the
methods of verification and justification appropriate in different areas of knowledge.
