Biome Shadowbox

For this project, you’re going to build a shadowbox of one of the prominent biomes on our planet along
with a partner. Shadowboxes can be constructed easily out of a shoebox or Kleenex box or cereal box.
They display a diorama of a particular scene in 3-D format.
Procedure
1. In class you will draw a card that contains the name of a biome. You will construct a shadowbox
diorama of this biome. If you would like to trade with another person, you may. During class I
will go around and record which biomes everyone has.
2. Using whatever artistic materials you want, your shadowbox will include the following items
from your biome
a. At least three autotrophs
b. At least three heterotrophs
c. A chart, description, image, etc indicating the average precipitation and temperature for
your biome (look in your textbook or do some research on your own for this
d. At least 3 abiotic factors that would be normal for your particular biome
3. Each item step 2 in your biome should also have a label included in some form. The label should
clearly describe and identify the components of your shadowbox.
