From the Reconstruction Unit, List the four factors that contributed to the end
of Reconstruction. Be sure to explain each. Would you consider Reconstruction
to be successful in the United States? Explain. And lastly, explain how
Reconstruction left unfinished business in the south that created the Civil Rights
Movement of the 1950s and 1960?
B.
THE UNITED STATES HAS EXPERIENCED MANY SOCIAL,
POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC CHANGES FROM THE CIVIL WAR
THROUGH WWI. YOU WILL EVALUATE THE PERIOD 1861-1914 AND
DISCUSS THREE SOCIAL, THREE POLITICAL AND THREE
ECONOMIC CHANGES THAT OUR SOCIETY HAS ENDURED. YOU
MUST DISCUSS ONE FROM EACH OF THE FOLLOWING UNITS
THAT WE HAVE WORKED WITH IN CLASS: CIVIL WAR,
RECONSTRUCTION, THE OLD FRONTIER AND
INDUSTRIALIZATION AND THE GILDED AGE INCLUDING
IMMIGRATION.

Reconstruction,
the Freedmen were not truly free.”
Support this statement by describing in detail at least FOUR different ways (using specific
laws and acts) in which the Freedmen were still “enslaved”.

D. Explain what I meant in class by referring to “Lincoln’s Revolving Door
of Generals.” Provide at least three examples of changes Lincoln made
and discuss how this impacted the kind of fight that the union was able
to take to the Confederates.
E. Explain the difference between the terms Captains of Industry and
Robber Barrons. Explain in detail how did Rockefeller and Carnegie
became the tycoons that we know them as today? What legislation did
the federal government enact to control the monopolies and in your
opinion was it necessary and is it necessary to control capitalism?
