Many of the Romanians asked the captain if they could throw the large box overboard because they were becoming afraid. (pg. 479) 4. What becomes of Petrof Skinsky who has claimed the Count’s box from the ship? Petrof Skinsky was murdered. His throat was torn. He was found dead in the churchyard. (pg. 481) 5. What does Mina do for which Van Helsing and the others heartily congratulated her? Mina comes up with an amazing plot of what Dracula’s course is. She even had it narrowed down to a particular river. (pg. 496) 10. Describe the changes in Mina’s behavior since she and Van Helsing separated from the others. Mina has begun to sleep much more, and seemed to have lost her appetite. She has stopped writing in her diary as well. (pg. 499) 11. What precaution does Van Helsing take when he and Mina are forced to sleep outside for the night? As a precaution, Van Helsing drew a large ring around Mina, and sprinkled the holy wafer crumbs around it. (pg. 503) 12. What does Van Helsing see in the mist during the night? During the night, Van Helsing thinks that he sees women in the mist, with trailing clothes. They were the voluptuous women that Jonathan encountered. (pg. 504) 13. Although Mina is safe from vampires inside her circle, what other danger concerns Van Helsing? The wolves concern Van Helsing, as they are not repelled by the holy circle. (pg. 508) 14. He also sees two horsemen following them fast, which are obviously Quincey and John. (pg. 513) 17. How is Count Dracula finally destroyed? Dracula is finally destroyed when Jonathan shears his throat and Morris stabs him in the heart. (pg. 518) 18. What becomes of the members of the group after their terrible ordeal?
