Book: “10 Little Rubber Ducks” By: Eric Carle
Extension Activity: Fluffy Ducks.
Today we will create a fluffy duck using a pre-drawn duck shape, and premixed puff paint using food dye, Elmer’s glue and shaving cream. We will
add yellow or white puff paint for feathers on our ducks and glue on an
orange bill and webbed feet.
Small Group Circle Time: Today we will read the story “10 Little Rubber
Ducks”. This is a sweet story about a bunch of rubber duck toys that get lost
out at sea when getting shipped on a boat. The 10 little ducks slowly drift
apart and encounter new sea creatures along the way. This story uses
prepositions to describe which way the duck went. At the end the last little
rubber duck becomes part of a real duck family and squeaks happily ever
after.

Book: “The Very Quiet Cricket” By: Eric Carle
Extension Activity: Sounds At Home Bingo
Today we will play a game using our ears, a CD and picture cards. We are
going to play sound bingo by listening to different sounds on a CD and look
at the pictures on our play board and see if we can guess the sound and
what it belongs to (i.e: Sink, Lawn Mower, Hair Dryer, Toilet, Tea Kettle)
Small Group Circle Time: Today we will be reading the story “The Very
Quiet Cricket”. This is a story about a cricket who cannot chirp. He tried
very hard to make sounds like his other bug friends but he could not. The
little cricket meets other bugs that make different sounds and continues to
practice rubbing his wings together to create his chirping sound. At the end
of the story the little cricket meets another cricket and finally learns how to
chrip!
