AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 1 HOUR 1 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing vids 100 – 91, tossing to “Bring the Noise” (Anthrax/Public Enemy) {#100} ----------------Hello and welcome to America’s Hard 100. I’m your host, Chris Jericho, lead singer of the rock band Fozzy, NY Times bestselling author, yet you probably know me best as the WWE superstar that after thirty years in the business, is still rock hard. In the next ten hours we will be bringing you videos that you the fans voted. One point four million people voted online to be exact, and I’d like to thank you. So now it’s time to celebrate and start counting down the list. At the very top of the list for America’s Hard 100 is “Bring the Noise” by Anthrax and Public Enemy. This explosive fusion of thrash metal and rap gave each genre an incredible boost of respectability, so much so it made it’s way into pop culture appearing on the soundtrack to the ‘87 film, “Less then Zero”. Hold on to your seats for this ride down memory lane, it’s about to get wicked and that’s no joke, ‘boy’! <In Flavor Flav tone> Here’s “Bring the Noise”. HOUR 1 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Soundgarden – “Black Hole Sun” {#97} -------------Welcome back to the America’s Hard 100. Coming up in just a bit is a dreamy video by the Foo Fighters, but right now it’s the Seattle powerhouse Soundgarden with perhaps their most recognizable hit, “Black Hole Sun”. This became the biggest hit for the band and there have been numerous covers, but my favorite has to be the one done by the famous crooner, Paul Anka. Coming in at number 97, with their smiley happy video hit, here’s Soundgarden with “Black Hole Sun”. Smile! 1 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 2 HOUR 1 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Jane’s Addiction – “Stop” {#95} ---------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. I’m your host Chris Jericho. Coming up later on the countdown is the funkified, wahing delights of Faith No More, the criminally underrated Cult, and the vile blood crusty mess known as WASP. Right now at number 95, it’s the hard rock surf stylings of Jane’s Addiction with “Stop”. “Here we go!” <mimicking Perry Farrell> HOUR 1 / Read # 4 BOTTOM OF THE HOUR Tossing to Thin Lizzy - “The Boys Are Back In Town” {#91} ---------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100, I’m your host Chris Jericho and rounding out the first hour at number 91, is the the Irish Rock Band Thin Lizzy with the “Boys are Back in Town”. Released in 1976, it’s probably safe to say it’s the first bromance song ever recorded. This bromance song propelled Lizzy out of the UK club scene and onto the international touring circuit. Phil Lynott, the lead singer and songwriter of Thin Lizzy exhibited tremendous bare chested bravado throughout his career. He oozed charm which like his super fly afro were hard to top. Here now is number 91, “The Boys are Back in Town” by Thin Lizzy. 2 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 3 HOUR 2 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing videos 90 – 81, and tossing to “The Beautiful People” (Marilyn Manson) {#90} ---------------Hello and welcome to hour two of America’s Hard 100. I’m your host Chris Jericho. This hour we’ll be counting down videos 90 to 81 of the greatest heavy metal and hard rock videos as voted by you, the fans. This hour features a a video that stars a teacher who clearly has a leg up on the competition, one that showcases an unrelenting wave of death metal reigning supreme, and a video from one of the founding fathers of metal, sung by a vocalist who simply goes by “The Metal God”. Starting off the hour is the video introducing Marilyn Manson and his squeaky-clean image to the living rooms of America, it’s “The Beautiful People”. Marilyn’s persona struck a chord with the industrial goth metal audiences, and his records topped the charts in the late 90’s. Rolling Stone magazine described the video we’re about to see as the creepiest of creepy videos. Here is “The Beautiful People” coming in @ number 90. HOUR 2 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Slayer – “Raining Blood” {#87} -------------Hello, welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Coming up this hour is a 70’s classic from the maestros of pop powered hard rock, Cheap Trick; but right now it’s an angel slaying bloodbath of biblical proportions by death metal incarnate, Slayer. Coming in at number 87 on the countdown is “Raining Blood” by Slayer. <say “Slayer” in creepy metal voice> 3 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 4 HOUR 2 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Rage Against the Machine – “Bulls on Parade” {#85} -----------Welcome back to hour two of America’s Hard 100. This hour we’ll have a video by Heaven and Hell, the ultra-verbose Rollins Band, the leather studded stylings of Judas Priest, and right now, one from the soul rebel revolutionaries, Rage Against the Machine. The video “Bulls on Parade” comes from their sophomore LP, “Evil Empire” which topped the Billboard 200 album chart in May of 96’. This helped the band transition from opening act to headliner, proving that while Rage was raging, America was listening. Here at number 85 on the Hard 100 is “Bulls on Parade”. HOUR 2 / Read # 4 BOTTOM OF THE HOUR Tossing to Sepultura – “Slave New World” - {#81} -----------Hey rockers of America, welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Finishing up our second hour of the countdown is the Brazilian metal sensation, Sepultura, with their video “Slave New World”. In the video, you’ll see images of human beings being stamped with barcodes which for 1992, was way ahead of it’s time. Here now at number 81 are those South American sultans of speed, Sepultura, and “Slave New World”. 4 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 5 Hour 3 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing videos 80 – 71, and tossing to “Rooster” (Alice in Chains) {#80} ------------------Hello and welcome to hour three of America’s Hard 100 where we’re ranking the best hard rock and heavy metal videos of all time, as voted on by you the fans. I’m your host Chris Jericho, and coming up in hour three we have videos from the thrash band that never stops, one from the rock legend who was the first to raise the metal horns <raise the horns with hand>, and a video by the original shock rocker who was a varsity lettered track star in high school, and whose last name rhymes with…blooper. Starting off the hour at number 80 is “Rooster” by Alice in Chains. This song was written by bandleader and guitar player, Jerry Cantrell, and tells the tale of what his father went through on the front lines of Vietnam. The “Rooster” video looks more like a poor man’s “Platoon” yet the black and white close ups of his father in the video bring the horror of war and it’s scar filled aftermath much closer to home. Here now is “Rooster”. HOUR 3 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Van Halen – “Jump” {#77} ----------------Hello and welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Coming up in a bit we’ll be treated to the rock and roll national anthem, by none other then Kiss. (I’m pretty sure you can guess what song I’m talking about) But right now we have the keyboard happy Eddie Van Halen with Van Halen’s crossover hit “Jump”. In true rock and roll fashion, singer David Lee Roth said the majority of the money for this video shoot was spent on beer. Here at number 77 on our countdown is “Jump” by Van Halen. 5 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 6 HOUR 3 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Alice Cooper – “Poison” {#75} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100, and I’m your host Chris Jericho. Coming up in a bit is the legendary Ronnie James Dio giving us a crash course in metal sorcery folklore. We’ll also hear the plush grooves of Stone Temple Pilots, but right now it’s the ex -varsity track star turned puppet master of horror, Alice Cooper, with his resurgent ’89 hit “Poison”, coming in at number 75. HOUR 3 / Read # 4 BOTTOM OF THE HOUR Tossing to Korn – “Freak on a Leash” {#71} -----------------Hi again. We’re rounding out hour three of America’s Hard 100 with number 71 on our list, and it’s Korn’s breakthrough video “Freak on a Leash”. This video is a gun hole ridden light show, which if you think about it contrasts quite nicely with the band’s industrial, hardcore metal sound. Leader singer, Jonathan Davis said the lyrics for “Freak on a Leash” were about the music industry making him feel like a prostitute. Dude, just be thankful you got paid to get your freak on. Here now is number 71,“ Freak on a Leash” by Korn. 6 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 7 Hour 4 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing videos 70 – 61, and tossing to “Walk” (Pantera) {#70} --------------Hello my people! Welcome to hour four of America’s Hard 100. I’m your host Chris Jericho. This hour we’ll be counting down videos 70 to 61 of the greatest heavy metal and hard rock videos as voted by you, the fans. This hour we’ll have a video by the leading lady of metal, one from the modern day master of horror, and one from a Sunset Strip staple that never quite got the cred their peers did. Coming up next is the band who kept heavy metal alive in the 90’s, Pantera. The video is “Walk” and is arguably the band’s most recognizable song and riff. It’s impossible to go to a sporting arena these days without hearing Dime’s menacing guitar riff, which is a great score for metal in my book! Here now at number 70 on our countdown are those cowboys from hell, Pantera, with “Walk.” “Are you talking to me?” <singing mimicking Phil Anselmo> HOUR 4 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to L.A. Guns – “Bitch is Back” {#67} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. This hour we’re going to see a video by one of the last bastions of hair metal still standing strong, a hypnotic ghoul filled stop animation video by Tool, and coming up next, the consistently scrappy LA Guns with “Bitch is Back”. LA Guns, along with Guns ‘n Roses and Poison were the kings of the Sunset Strip during the mid to late 80’s. G n’ R and Poison would go on to reach broader audiences as the decade ended, but in this video you will get a taste of why LA Guns reigned supreme on the strip. Here is the “Bitch is Back” at number 67. 7 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 8 HOUR 4 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Rob Zombie – “Dragula” {#65} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. I’m your host Chris Jericho. This hour we’ll see a video by the one man Goth Metal wrecking crew, and we’ll hear the original backing track to Puff Daddy’s “Come With Me”. (Yes, I know what I said, just seeing if you Zep Heads are paying attention) Right now, we’re going see a video by the brood master himself Rob Zombie from his first solo album, Hillbilly Deluxe, Coming in at number 65 is “Dragula”. Hour 4 / Read # 4 BOTTOM OF THE HOUR Tossing to Great White – “Once Bitten Twice Shy” {#61} --------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100, I’m your host Chris Jericho. Finishing up this hour at number 61 on the countdown is “Once Bitten Twice Shy” by Great White. The video’s bluesy electrified swagger kicks into full gear once a stand-out groupie appears, played by Bobbie Brown, who later became the legendary video vixen in the Warrant, “Cherry Pie” video, which by the way is a video coming up in our next hour. But here now is number 61 on our countdown, “Once Bitten Twice Shy” by Great White, which still pops off the screen and knocks you off your feet. 8 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 9 Hour 5 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing videos 60 – 51, and tossing to “Got the Time” (Anthrax) {#60} --------------Hello rock fans! Welcome to hour 5 of America’s Hard 100. 1.4 million of you went hard100.vh1.com and made your voices heard, and right now we are ranking the best hard rock and heavy metal videos of all time, as voted on by you the fans. I’m your host Chris Jericho and coming up this hour we’ll feature a pair of video vixens: one that gave a Jaguar a waxing of a lifetime, and another one that put a smile on your face ten miles wide. Starting of the hour at number 60 on America’s Hard 100 is the Joe Jackson cover, “Got the Time” by New York’s own, Anthrax. Anthrax is one of the four founding thrash metal bands collectively known as The Big Four. Along with Slayer, Megadeth, and Metallica, Anthrax paved the way for thrash metal bands everywhere with their frenetic sound and intense musicianship. Here now is “Got the Time” by Anthrax, at number 60. HOUR 5 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Warrant – “Cherry Pie” {#57} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. I’m your host Chris Jericho. Up next at number 57 on the countdown is a video from rock’s down boys, Warrant, featuring one of hair metal’s unsung heroes, the recently departed Jani Lane. In honor of Jani, here now is Warrant’s trademark video giving new meaning to the word perma-grin. “Cherry Pie” coming in at number 57. 9 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 10 HOUR 5 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Slayer – “Seasons in the Abyss” {#55} ----------------Hello again my friends. Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Coming up in a bit we’ll experience some gargantuan roars of pent up rage from Pantera, but right now let’s feel those crushing blows from the most evil band on the countdown, Slayer, coming in at number 55 with “Seasons in the Abyss”. HOUR 5 / Read # 4 BOTTOM OF THE HOUR Tossing to Foo Fighters – “My Hero” {#51} ----------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. We are almost at the halfway point of the countdown. I want to thank all of the one point four million people who voted on-line and made your voice heard. Rounding out this hour on our countdown is “My Hero” by the Foo Fighters. Foo frontman Dave Grohl refuses to admit Kurt Cobain was the inspiration behind “My Hero”; and speaking of refusals, Dave Grohl denied John McCain permission to use the song during his 2008 Presidential campaign. When asked about it, all Dave said was the song is “a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential”. Here now at number 51 is “My Hero” by the Foo Fighters. 10 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 11 Hour 6 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing videos 50 – 41, and tossing to “Ace of Spades” (Motorhead) {#50} -------------Hello rockers, we’re half way through counting down the greatest hard rock and heavy metal videos ever made, as voted by you, the fans. This is America’s Hard 100. Coming up this hour is the video that made Metallica a less menacing monster, and another that made the Sunset Strip look like one endless victory lap…or lap dance. At number 50 on America’s Hard 100 is the classic metal anthem “Ace of Spades” by Motorhead. The lead singer, Lemmy Kilmister wrote this song as a word exercise on gambling, which is a recurring theme in Motohead’s music, along with promiscuous sex and burning through plenty of rubber. Here at number 50 on the countdown is “Ace of Spades” by Motorhead, and as Lemmy would say, “the pleasure is to play and I’m all in.” HOUR 6 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Krokus – “Screaming in the Night” {#47} ----------------Hello and welcome back to America’s Hard 100. In a bit we’ll see one of my all-time favorite metal bands singing about a soldier fighting in the Crimean War. But coming up next is a power ballad classic from the Swiss metal band, Krokus. Here is “Screaming In the Night” coming in at number 47. 11 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 12 HOUR 6 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Deep Purple – “Highway Star” {#45} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. I’m your host Chris Jericho. Coming up soon we’ll see the shimmering, ravenous rasps of Ratt; the nerd metal band of choice, Rush; but right now it’s the the rock and metal pioneers, Deep Purple. I would like to dedicate this video to Jon Lord, the founding keyboardist who sadly died this past year. This one is for you Jon. Coming in at number 45 is the ultimate driving anthem, “Highway Star” by Deep Purple. HOUR 6 / Read # 4 BOTTOM OF THE HOUR Twisted Sister- “I Wanna Rock” {#41} -------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Were almost done with hour six of the countdown, but before we go we’re gonna leave you with number 41 on the list, which comes from those cross dressing video vanguards, Twisted Sister, with “I Wanna Rock”. In the opening scene, the Neidmeyer character from Animal House plays a schoolteacher who rips into an overweight teenager for desecrating his notebook, and is asked “what do you want to do your life?” The teenager’s responds with the iconic statement, “I Wanna Rock”! If this isn’t the greatest call to arms for the rocker that lurks inside us all, I don’t know what it is. And just when the video can’t get juicer, it ends with a cameo from Flounder, who didn’t age a day since he became a Sensitivity Trainer. Oh boy is this great! <spray seltzer bottle>. 12 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 13 Hour 7 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing videos 40 – 31, and tossing to “Into the Fire” (Dokken) {#40} --------------------Welcome back to hour seven of America’s Hard 100. I’m your host Chris Jericho. This hour we’ll be counting down videos 40 to 31 of the greatest heavy metal and hard rock videos as voted by you, the fans. This hour on our countdown we’ll see the face of grunge even though he doesn’t really show it in the video, the greatest bully protector in metal history, and a video from the hardest band down under. Coming in at number 40 on America’s Hard 100 is “Into the Fire” by Dokken. In this video, guitarist George Lynch is so ripped he reminds you of a cartoon character, or a professional wrestler, like Hulk Hogan, or maybe even Chris Jericho? Here now is number 40, “Into the Fire” by Dokken, featuring the very pumped up George Lynch. HOUR 7 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Nirvana – “Smells Like Teen Spirit” {#37} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Coming up is another masterpiece of Heavy Metal Theater from Led Zeppelin and the Nirvana video that killed the reign of Hair Metal. Coming in at number 37 is the video many sight as the beginning of the end for Heavy Metal in the early 90’s. Yes, it’s the grunge video that replaced leather and spandex with flannel and doc martens. It’s “Smells like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana coming in at number 37. 13 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 14 HOUR 7 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Heaven and Hell – “Shadow of the Wind” {#35} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Next on the countdown is a video from the famed Black Sabbath collaboration Heaven and Hell, featuring the late great Ronnie James Dio on vocals. This video was shot @ the famed Radio City Music Hall in 2007, and on display is the everlasting power these musicians possess. Coming in at number 35 is “Shadow of the Wind” by Heaven and Hell. HOUR 7 / Read # 4 BOTTOM OF THE HOUR Tossing to Aerosmith – “Love in an Elevator” {#31} -------------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100, I’m your host Chris Jericho. Rounding out the hour and coming in at 31 is the make out heavy video, “Love in an Elevator” by Aerosmith. If anyone was tailor made to ham it up in the age of metal videos with silky smooth, feline sex appeal it was Steven Tyler. The elevator operator in this video that says: “Good morning, Mr. Tyler, going down”; was Playboy Playmate Brandi Brandt, who was the wife of Motley Crew’s bassist Nikki Sixx at the time…of course she was! Here is number 31 on our countdown, “Love in an Elevator” by Aerosmith that still rises to the occasion after all these years. 14 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 15 Hour 8 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing videos 30 – 21, and tossing to “Photograph” (Def Leppard) {#30} -------------------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. I’m your host Chris Jericho and we only have three hours left to countdown the greatest hard rock and heavy metal music videos of all time, as voted by you, the fans. This hour we’ll see a Scarface inspired tale about power, drugs and destruction except this Drug Pin refuses to go down blasting. Also coming up is a tragic story of lost youth, and the video that catapulted this thrash band into the big four almost overnight. At number 30 on our list is the video “Photograph” by Def Leppard, which was the band’s break out hit off their third album, Pyromania. For the video shoot, lead singer Joe Elliott used his lunch stipend to buy the Union Jack t-shirt he wore in the video, which of course later reached iconic status. Here now is the video that broke Def Leppard, “Photograph”. HOUR 8 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Aerosmith – “Dream On” {#27} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Coming up in just a bit is Danzig’s classic video, which is either about the PMRC or his Oedipal struggles (take your pick), but first, it’s the bad boys of Boston with a song you probably hear all the time on classic rock radio. Radio research shows that across America, this song is one of the most heavily rotated songs in the entire classic rock catalogue. Coming in at number 27 on our countdown is the song that put Aerosmith on the map in the early 70’s. Here’s “Dream On”. 15 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 16 HOUR 8 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Megadeth – “Peace Sells” {#21} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Coming up in just a bit we’re gonna see another pop rock master piece by Def Leppard, but first, it’s a scathing sonic blast of a response for why peace is the hardest thing to sell. Those of you out there who grew up watching MTV and MTV News at the bottom of the hour, you might recognize the intro bass line to the next song on the countdown. Coming in at number 25 with “Peace Sells” are the thrash masters, Megadeth. HOUR 8 / Read # 4 BOTTOM OF THE HOUR Toss to Quiet Riot – “Cum on Feel the Noize” {#21} -------------Welcome Back to America’s Hard 100, I’m your host Chris Jericho. Next up on the countdown at number 21 is the timeless metal party anthem “Cum on Feel the Noize” by Quiet Riot. It is a cover of a song by the English hard rock band, Slade. Thanks to a ton of spins on MTV, “Cum on Feel the Noize” made Quiet Riot one of the most recognizable metal bands in the early 80’s. I remember hearing this song on mainstream radio as a kid, and it even made it to number five on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s about to get, wild, wild, wild right now, cause here now is “Cum on Feel the Noize” by Quiet Riot, number 21 on America’s Hard 100. 16 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 17 Hour 9 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Hour Nine - teasing videos 20 – 11, and tossing to “Run to the Hills” (Iron Maiden) {#20} -----------------Welcome back to hour nine of America’s 100. At number 20 on America’s Hard 100 is “Run to Hills” by one of my all time favorite bands, Iron Maiden. Arguably the band’s most recognizable songs, it’s a sympathetic Native American Indian tale pre –“Dances with Wolves”. The original lead singer for Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickenson is nicknamed the “Air Raid Siren” for his super natural voice that pierces through the clouds of Heavy Metal Heaven. Here now is “Run to the Hills” by Iron Maiden. HOUR 9 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Tossing to Bon Jovi – “You Give Love a Bad Name” {#17} ----------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. At number 11 on our countdown towards the greatest hard rock and heavy metal video ever is “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath, who was voted by MTV as the greatest metal band of all time. Sabbath guitarist, Tommy Iommi claims that when the lyrics were penned by bassist Geezer Butler, Ozzy had no idea what the word “Paranoid “even meant. What’s to fear when you’re the Prince of Darkness, besides Sharon Osbourne of course. Here now is “Paranoid” by the founding fathers of metal Black Sabbath, coming in at number 11. 18 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 19 Hour 10 / Read # 1 TOP OF THE HOUR Teasing videos 10 – 1, and tossing to “Talk Dirty to Me” (Poison) {#10} -------------Welcome to the final hour of America’s Hard 100. Coming up this last hour is the cream of the crop. We’ll see a black and white metal masterpiece, a video by the smallest rock star ever who just happened to have the biggest voice ever, and a royal rock wedding for the ages. Leading off the final hour is “Talk Dirty to Me” by Poison, which was the first video from their smash debt album, “Look What the Cat Dragged In.” Poison had more makeup on this one album cover then Ann and Nancy Wilson wore for all their album covers combined! I kid around but Poison was seriously one of the premier metal bands of its day, hair metal or not. Here now is “Talk Dirty To Me” by Poison. Hit it CC! HOUR 10 / Read # 2 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Toss to Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhodes – “Crazy Train“ - {#7} --------------Hello I’m Chris Jericho and we’re in the final stages of the American Hard 100 countdown. At number 7 is arguably the most iconic guitar riff of any heavy metal and hard rock song ever recorded, “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads. The song first appeared on the 1981 Blizzard of Oz album, but it was the re-released Randy Rhodes tribute version that immortalized the song forever. Here now is that tribute version of “Crazy Train”, coming in at number 7 on Hard 100. 19 AMERICA’s HARD 100 – MASTER SCRIPT – v3 (edits) 20 HOUR 10 / Read # 3 MIDDLE OF THE HOUR Accept – “Balls to the Wall“ - {#5} --------------Welcome back to America’s Hard 100. Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the number one video for America’s Hard 100 voted on by you the fans. And the number one video that rocked them all is “Living on a Prayer” by the long-haired cowboys of Jersey, Bon Jovi. “Living on a Prayer” was the follow up video to “You Give Love a Bad Name” which was a powerful one two punch that knocked the metal world off its feet with its soaring guitar solos, bad boy swerve, and devilish good looks that no woman, or man could resist. Since then, Jon Bon Jovi has cut the luscious locks and become a corporate enterprise that breaks bread with Oprah, expands his restaurant enterprise, and conducts board meetings for his own arena football team. Yet when metal was at the height of its popularity, no other rock star rocked arenas the way he did, nobody came close to matching the star wattage of Jon Bon Jovi, they went wild in the streets for him them and they still do now. Here is the number one video for America’s Hard 100, voted on by you the fans, the unanimous winner, “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi. 21
