Activities or other accomplishments this month:
NW Puppy Program Manager held a workshop for PRs in Portland. There were about 10 people and a
good deal of time was allocated to reviewing puppy program policies and updating the PR’s on
guidelines. The smaller group setting was conducive to enhancing connections and education. NW
PPM looks forward to doing more like this in other NW areas this year. PRs were also presented with
the new orientation folder which has been very well received and very successful!
Additionally, the interviewing process for a Puppy Program Assistant was completed and the
department expects to have a new assistant in place by mid-May.

“Crossing the Courtyard” meetings began in March. These monthly meetings have a representative
from each department and give everyone a chance to problem-solve and share best practices. ED is
facilitating the meetings and incorporating resolution training as well as weaving in some issues noted
in our last “Great Places to Work” survey.
ED has attended 2 Resolution Skills committee meetings and 2 Great Places to Work committee
meetings.
ED has meet with all 30 NW employees during the month of April and found it to be very informative.
All staff were asked to list 1 - 3 positives about their jobs and ideas that make them more successful or
feel more supported. They were also asked if they had suggestions or thoughts about communication
and/or trust issues.
The conversations were very open and genuine. A lot of great ideas were put on the table and areas of
concern were freely discussed. The only thing that might have made the process even better was if the
meetings were done away from the employee evaluation timeframe. Next year the meetings will be
held sometime between November and December.
ED facilitated 2 NW CCI All-staff meetings which continue to be well-attended, very informative and
provide a wonderful format to disseminate information and problem-solve.

All Chapter Presidents with attend the NW Board Of Directors 2-day workshop and have worked on
their agenda items for their Chapter breakout session. Using the same strategic planning process that
the NW Board went through, Chapters will be solidifying an 18-month development/awareness plan
for each of their areas. Results of the NW Puppy Raiser survey, including raw data and outcome report
will be reviewed with Presidents before final report will be released to all PRs the following week.
NW Development staff is working with Puget Sound Chapter to enhance revenue from their Seattle
Gala. Save the date cards have been produced and corporate sponsors have and will continue to be
