ME 210 Cornerstone Design Project

Design a paper towel hanging device that conforms to the following specifications:

The dimensions of the towel cardboard tube are Ø 40 mm x 220 mm x 1.2 mm thick
The paper roll on the tube can be up to 30 mm thick
The design should be simple and comprise of as few parts as possible
Only plastic and/or aluminum can be used
The device should be able to be fitted onto a concrete wall
The mechanism/parts used to secure the device to the wall should be hidden, but designed with
full specification for the fastening parts used
7. The towel roll must not touch the wall when full or empty
8. The towel roll must not fall off the device during normal use
9. The towel roll should be parallel to the wall
Design steps:
1. Create 2 or 3 concepts for the design and chart a comparison table listing the advantages and
disadvantages of each concept over the other.
2. Create a freehand sketch of all the parts of the selected concept
In SolidWorks do the following:
1. Create SolidWorks models of the parts of the final concept
2. Create an assembly drawing of the device
3. Create a fully detailed working drawing of the device
