Procedures/Activities/Learning Experiences:
Practical Money Skills for Life, Grades 7-12, Lessons 6 and 7
Lesson 6: Banking Services
Provide practice in comparing and evaluating various banking services including
checking and savings accounts, ATM/check cashing cards, and online banking. Perform
the tasks associated with maintaining checking and savings accounts.
Lesson 7: About Credit
Provide an awareness and understanding of what credit is and of the rights and
responsibilities of using credit.
Teaching and Learning Check lessons
Teach and learn how to write a check, make checking account deposits and
withdrawals, endorse checks, manage and balance your checkbook, and checkbook
reconciliation with your monthly bank checking account statement.
Giving Credit
Students will provide examples of capacity, character, and collateral as applied to
determining credit worthiness; analyze the credit worthiness of loan applicants; and
identify ways to establish and maintain personal credit worthiness.
Climbing the Savings Mountain
Students discover how saving money can be compared to climbing a mountain. The
climb can be fast or slow, safe or hazardous, scenic or thrilling. You will find out that
there is more than one way to get to the top!
