Past Work Experience (Selected) Jan 2013-Dec 2013, Post-Doctoral Fellow Critical Studies in Sexualities and Reproduction During my year as a post-doctoral fellow in the CSSR research program I worked on the following: Meaning in Testimonies of Rape The challenges of menstruation for school going girls (in conjunction with the Community Engagement Office) Unsupportable pregnancies Feminist Consciousness-raising Speak-Outs The use of aborted foetal imagery in anti-abortion campaigns Jan 2013-Dec 2013, Editorial Assistant Feminism and Psychology Feminism and Psychology is a DOHET recognised and subsidy attracting journal published by SAGE. I acted as the editorial assistant for the journal in the year of 2013 during the hand-over from the old to the new editorial team. During this time I was responsible for the day to day running of the journal, including processing new submissions and handling all email queries from authors, reviewers and the editorial team and board. I was directly answerable to the Editor-in-Chief while I worked for the journal. 2009-2012, Managing Editor Philosophical Papers Philosophical Papers is a DOHET (Department of Higher Education) recognised (and subsidy attracting) journal published jointly by Routledge and Unisa Press. I was the Managing Editor of this journal and reported to both the editors and Taylor & Francis Group (a trading division of Informa UK Ltd). Responsible for proofreading and copy-editing the full manuscript before it is sent to the typesetters. Responsible for all liaising with authors and referees as well as publishers (to attain books for review purposes) Keeping track of submission dates for each author, inviting referees and ensuring that referee reports are received within three months of the submission date so as to ensure authors a prompt response. 2009, 2010, 2011 (January/February – April), Administrator/Assistant Rhodes University Research Office For these three years I was responsible for compiling the annual Rhodes University Research Report to be submitted to the Department of Higher Education for the purposes of subsidy. This job involved great responsibility because of the fundamental role played by the subsidy earned from this process (typically around R25-30 million) in the University’s annual research budget.
