During my year as a post-doctoral fellow in the CSSR research program I worked on the following:

Feminism and Psychology
Feminism and Psychology is a DOHET recognised and subsidy attracting journal published by SAGE. I acted
as the editorial assistant for the journal in the year of 2013 during the hand-over from the old to the new
editorial team. During this time I was responsible for the day to day running of the journal, including
processing new submissions and handling all email queries from authors, reviewers and the editorial team
and board. I was directly answerable to the Editor-in-Chief while I worked for the journal.
2009-2012, Managing Editor
Philosophical Papers
Philosophical Papers is a DOHET (Department of Higher Education) recognised (and subsidy attracting)
journal published jointly by Routledge and Unisa Press. I was the Managing Editor of this journal and
reported to both the editors and Taylor & Francis Group (a trading division of Informa UK Ltd).

Responsible for proofreading and copy-editing the full manuscript before it is sent to the
typesetters.

Responsible for all liaising with authors and referees as well as publishers (to attain books for
review purposes)

Keeping track of submission dates for each author, inviting referees and ensuring that referee
reports are received within three months of the submission date so as to ensure authors a prompt
response.

Rhodes University Research Office
For these three years I was responsible for compiling the annual Rhodes University Research Report to be
submitted to the Department of Higher Education for the purposes of subsidy. This job involved great
responsibility because of the fundamental role played by the subsidy earned from this process (typically
around R25-30 million) in the University’s annual research budget. Also:

Responsible for dealing with confidential grant information from the National Research Foundation
& Medical Research Council (2009, 2010)

Produced 2010 Graduate Studies Guide and Postgraduate Bursaries Guide

In 2011 I trained new members of staff in the Research Office to take over this task from 2012.

Psychiatric and Psychological Consultant Service
‘PPCS’, London, is a private clinic dealing with various cases ranging from psychiatric medico-legal and brain
trauma cases to psychological counselling for phobias, depression and so on.

Receptionist / Administrator

First point of contact with patients and other clients.

Typing up confidential psychiatric and psychological reports for solicitors, doctors and patients,
completing therapist’s audits, managing appointments, handling fees, filing, controlling
switchboard.

Reworked entire administrative system from paper onto PC.
