The Life Skills classroom has begun planning for a garden in one of the courtyards here at McCallum. We’d love to have fresh veggies for cooking and a pretty place to hold class now that fall has arrived. We’ve started weeding, but are in need of volunteers to help clean up the garden beds, plant seeds, clean BBQ grills and move bricks. We're looking to send our seniors out with a bang! Volunteer positions we need to fill are: * Chair - Grad Knight * This person will be responsible for planning and executing graduation night activities. * The following position needs filling and will work for the Grad Knight Chair * Bag Check- responsible for checking in student prize bags. High School Basketball: NWAYBA Northwest Austin Youth Basketball (NWAYBA) registration is open; you can register online www.nwayba.org. The league offers competitive recreational play for high school. We accept players of all skill levels, and will have open gym in November to gauge each player's abilities. The season starts in November with open gyms (tentatively Sat. 11/10, Mon 11/12, Sat 11/17, Mon 11/19). Team formation will be the week of Nov. 26, and games start either Sat., Dec. 1 or Mon., Dec. 3. The season runs through mid-February. No practices or games are scheduled during school holidays. High school is typically on Monday nights and Saturdays. Events are held at Murchison or Hoop Zone. High School Division 9th through 12th grade co-ed, Registration $165 per player (www.nwayba.org). If your player enjoys the game, please participate in Northwest Austin's basketball league. If your player does not enjoy the game, this is probably not the activity for him or her.
