IOSH Managing Safely in the Exhibition & Events Industry Refresher course Course duration: one day It is well recognised by all parties that time can erode both knowledge and skill. Designed to address this, the IOSH Managing Safely in the Exhibition & Events Industry Refresher course acquaints delegates with the significant changes to health and safety practice, guidance, legislation and standards which have occurred since their original course. The course concludes with a short 30-minute IOSH examination. The course revisits how to manage a range of common hazards, by applying common principles and includes methods to identify different types of human failures including simple solutions to reduce these incidents. Course outline An Introduction to Managing Safely in Exhibitions & Events Risk Assessment & Common Hazards Evaluating results and selecting control strategies Health & Safety Management Accident Causation & Reactive Monitoring Active Monitoring On conclusion of the course delegates will have a refreshed and updated understanding of the legal requirements for continued success with health and Safety Management. There is a multi-choice assessment at the end of the course, which delegate must pass in order to achieve re-certification. He has attended Home Office Emergency Planning College courses, including their Safety in Complex & Built Environments course, and holds the International Loss Control Institutes Safety Auditing Certificate, the IRCA Lead Auditor Occupational Health & Safety Auditing Systems 18001 (OHSAS) certificate, and attended the RoSPA’s Quality Safety Auditors 5 day course; and the Internal Auditor Training BVQi Course (registered under National Registration Scheme for Internal Auditors of Quality Systems). Dave has attended multi-disciplinary emergency planning exercises through his role as Safety Advisor, Great Yorkshire Show and also with British Rail. The delegates will rate their risks and consider the suitability of controls. The delegates will consider the reliance and reliability of their chosen safeguard. 11.00 Break 11.15 Health & Safety Update The delegates will re-visit how the law works and be advised of the key responsibilities and accountabilities for health and safety in the workplace. Recent case law will be analysed. 12.30 Lunch 13.30 Mock Assessment 13.45 Accident Investigation (Reactive Monitoring) The delegates will re-visit the accident investigation process, including the principle of multiple causation. Appropriate recording & reporting and of incidents, accidents and ill health and an over view of RIDDOR. 14.45 Break 15.00 The Measurement & Improvement of Health & Safety (Active Monitoring) The delegates will review the importance of active monitoring and review the different techniques available to monitor the workplace. The Company reserves the right to cancel or alter the dates of provision of service, the content, timing, venue or speakers / individual providing the service due to circumstances beyond their control. In the unlikely event of the programme being cancelled, oasys will make a full refund but shall not be responsible for any failure to perform its obligations hereunder due to circumstances beyond its control. PAYMENT FOR SERVICES Payment of accounts must be effected no later than 14 days from the date of invoice (and in any case before the commencement of the course). Failure to effect payment when due may result in cancellation of the delegate place(s) without further notice. DELEGATE PLACES CANNOT BE GUARENTEED UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED. FAILURE TO EFFECT PAYMENT WHEN DUE Under the “Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998”, failure to effect payment when due may result in an additional £100.00 administration fee and interest charged at 8% over the Bank of England base rate.
