Radiologic Technology Training of Clinical Educators (RTEC) o Financial support and outreach assistance to the RTEC training (offering CEUs) in Los Angeles, Nov. 2-3, 2006, as well as to the CSRT conference, Nov. 4-5, 2006. East Bay Immigrant Nurse Re-Entry Project o Partnership development with SF WBC, Alameda County Social Services Agency, Chabot College and others to expand training for immigrant nurses re-entering the health workforce. “Quick Start” Tech Prep: Las Positas College (LPC) Pipeline Project o Held initial planning meeting with LPC for new pipeline project that includes a summer academy and development of 3 new certificate programs at LPC. San Francisco Welcome Back Center o The first convening of a working group of immigrant-serving agencies was held to establish a coordinated resource and referral center for immigrants with health backgrounds. o Total number of participants in SF WBC is 1,951, including 83 new enrollees since May 2006. Since May, WBC delivered 127 in-person case management sessions plus 738 other. Outcomes May-Sept 2006: 5 participants validated credentials, 31 took licensing exams, 19 obtained employment in the health sector, and 2 were accepted to medical residency. Bay Area Mental Health Education Workforce Collaborative o RHORC co-convened a regional task force on community college mental health programs in response to MHSA, a subcommittee of the Bay Area Mental Health Workforce Collaborative. Curriculum o A train-the-trainer session for multiple colleges on the new one year ESL curriculum, the English Health Train, scheduled tentatively for October. o The SF WBC, in conjunction with JVS and CCSF's RN Dept., offers an NCLEX-RN Review Course for Repeat Test Takers this fall. (SF WBC also offers other courses ongoing.) o RHORC participated in editorial committee & regional pilot (2 colleges) for first-ever textbook for community health workers to be published by Jossey-Bass. o Formative research & pilot development completed for an 8-hour curriculum on elder abuse recognition and reporting for first-responders (EMT, paramedics) at CCSF. Technical Assistance Projects o Participated in healthcare diversity conference and regional working group (June 2006). o Through FIPSE-funded CHW-NEC, RHORC provided technical assistance to Minnesota colleges developing community health worker training programs. o Initial groundwork conducted for a review of Bay Area health workforce needs, in conjunction with RHORC Region 3, focused on public health depts. & regional hospitals. o Provided data analysis of CCSF Healthcare Interpreter Program graduates & employers. o Serve as grant reviewer for CCCCO EWD grants (IDRC): August 2006. EWD and Other Public Presentations: o Worked with CCSF faculty on development of proposal to JSPAC (Dec. 2006); and on presentations for CCCAOE (Oct. 2006); NCWE (Oct. 2006); and APHA (Nov. 2006).
