Description
This activity is designed like the game of Bingo. Students will work with classmates to win by finding the answers to complete a
row across, horizontally or vertically.
Objectives
Students will be able to:
-use a variety of resources to answer questions or obtain information related to Japan’s geography and culture
-discuss with classmates what they already know about Japan, adding new information
Materials Needed
Introduction to Japan Bingo Handout
Pen or pencil
Directions
Each student will receive a copy of the Introduction to Japan Handout. Students will be directed to work with a partner to answer
the questions on their own or to find other students in class who can correctly answer the questions. If an answer is obtained from
another student, that student should initial the answer. To encourage lively interaction, students may obtain only one answer per
student in the class. The first pair to get a “Bingo” (a completed row across, horizontally or vertically) wins. The rules for winning
can be extended to then include other “Bingo” wins, such as fill four corners and fill your card.
Work with a partner to formulate a strategy to EITHER discover the answers or find the people in class who might be able to
CORRECTLY answer enough questions to score a BINGO! Once the game starts, you have ____ minutes to gather the answers
and signatures of those who can answer the questions. You may only get one signature from each person, AND each student may
sign their name only _____ times.
A winning card is one that has a completed row across, horizontally, or vertically.
