You are writing a
creative short story!!
Requirements:
-
Book Style (white printer paper folded in half and center stapled to resemble a
book).
The book may be oriented portrait (open from the left) or landscape (open from
the bottom).
The book must have at least six pages.
There must be at least two pictures created by you (no printing and pasting) that
demonstrate time and effort.
A front and back cover are required. The front cover must have the title of the
story, your name, and be decorated. The back cover must have a two sentence
synopsis of the book.
The story must contain the following literary elements: setting, characters with
traits, conflict, resolution, point of view, rising action, climax, and falling action.
The story must have at least two separate lines of dialogue (two characters or one
character speaking two different times).
The story must have four vocabulary words. Underline them. See the list if you
don’t remember them all.
Dialogue:
-
When a person talks in a story, it is called dialogue.
Quotation marks belong at the beginning and end of the dialogue.
End punctuation goes inside the quotation mark.
A tag indicating who said the words must be included and offset with comma(s).
o “We were upstairs,” Jack quietly stated.
o Jason inquired, “Would you like a second helping of mashed potatoes?”
o “I was planning to eat an orange,” explained Rick, “but then I saw the
brownies.”
