BIOGRAPHY
Jeremy as Performer.
People often ask how old I was when I started piano. I started taking piano
lessons when I was 5, and began performing musical theatre in elementary
school. I took vocal instruction in high school and college and since then, I have
enjoyed a fun and fruitful career as a vocalist and pianist. My focus has been
mainly musical theatre, adult contemporary, and Christian music as a vocalist,
and anything as a pianist! I consider myself a performer first. That is what I have
always done since I was very little. I enjoy entertaining, and I enjoy going on
musical journeys with audiences and colleagues.
Jeremy as Songwriter/Composer.
I began writing music seriously in high school. I wrote some academic choral
and orchestral music and won the 1993 FVA Composition Competition. In
college I started writing a lot of songs for friends who wanted original art songs
for their recitals. That led me to write more pop/rock music for local clients and
studios. Once my music was heard by a larger audience and throughout the
country I was afforded more opportunities to write for established, as well as
new, artists. I find writing to be the most challenging of musical arts for me.
Because of that, it is truly rewarding. Nothing is more special to me than hearing
my song being performed by an amazing singer.
Jeremy as Producer.
I started producing music while in college. I bought some primitive equipment
and had a little project studio in my apartment. I used this equipment mainly to
record my demos and friends. I also started to do a lot of MIDI programming.
Naturally, since I was producing and arranging a lot more material my studio
grew and became more hi-tech! After working in the local studio scene I was
asked to help produce larger scale albums and projects. I truly enjoy being in the
studio and I love to be creative with shaping the music we hear.
Jeremy as Arranger.
I have always loved the orchestra, the choir, and the many other musical tools
we have today (whether real or synthesized!). I started studying orchestration in
high school out of a love of film/TV music. I began writing music for different
ensembles, but found it more lucrative to hone my arranging skills for producers
who needed string ensembles, background vocals, etc. I learned the art of
notation and started using Finale when it was version 2.0(!). Ever since, I have
arranged music for almost every style and genre, and for clients across the
country. Arranging is the most creative aspect of my career because I get to
literally shape the entire sound and color palette of what we hear.
