A. Verbos regulares + vocabulario. Choose the verb which logically

B. Articles and Demonstrative adjectives. Choose the correct article/demonstrative
adjective with the correct sentence. (4 pto)
C. Verbos irregulares y verbos que cambian de raíz. Fill in the blank

D. Saber y conocer. Decide whether saber o conocer should be used in the blank and

A. ¿Cierto o falso? Read the following statements and indicate if they are cierto (C) or
falso (F), based on the information presented in the textbook. (4 points, one point each
correct answer.)
B. Match the items listed in the left with the statement in the right that corresponds. (5
points, one point each correct answer.)
C. Read and answer the following questions with information you learned from the
textbook. You can answer in Spanish or English. (4 points, one point each correct
answer.)
IV. Lectura. Read the following paragraph and answer the questions in
either English or Spanish (7 pts)
V. Vocabulario (15 points)
A. Read each sentences in column A, then fill in the blank with the letter from column B
that best completes each sentence. Not all of the words are used. (10 pts.)
B. Write the most logical family related word according to the sentence. (5 points)
VI. Sección de escribir. To practice your Spanish, you visit a Spanish-only chat room
and “meet” a person from Spain. Your new friend wants to know more about you. Write
an e-mail message (8 sentences minimum) in Spanish describing yourself. You must
include each of the following in the message: 1) a physical description, 2) your
personality/characteristics (you are nice, intelligent, etc.) and/or your marital status, 3)
your favorite color/the color that you like 4) tell about your family (names, ages, jobs,
physical characteristics, traits, etc.), 5) give some information about the classes that you
are taking and your routine (make sure to mention days of the week in discussing your
classes)—two sentences or a long one, 6) what you like to do on weekends, 7) a
comparison of your routine with a roommate’s or a friend’s and 8) use an expression with
tener somewhere in your essay. (8 pts)
VII. Reflective Short Essays –(10 pts). This should be typed and turned in on the date
set by your instructor.
1. Cultural awareness:
 What are some of the most interesting aspects of your foreign language’s culture(s)
and values and in what way has learning about this made you more aware of your
own culture?
 Now that you have been studying a new language for a semester, how might you react
if you encountered a non-native speaker of English who needed help? Would you
have responded this way before taking this class? If you would have, how might the
encounter be different than before? More specifically, has the class changed or
expanded the way you might behave toward or interact with ____ speakers, their
language and their culture? How has the course changed or expanded your perception
about –––- speaking peoples, their language and their culture? How? When
describing the change, be sure to talk about the ideas and attitude you had before this
class and whether that influenced your prior interaction with native Spanish speakers.
In your examples and explanation you may also draw upon insight from your
international events even if they related to a culture different than the language you
are learning.

Describe the strategies and/or skills developed during the language learning process
in this course which may have influenced your learning a) other subjects on campus
this semester and/or b) may have prepared you for other subjects in the future.
Describe a possible setting in which you might apply your new cultural and language
knowledge for your present or future enjoyment or you own enrichment.
If applicable, describe a time this semester when you applied your new knowledge
about ___ cultures or language in another class.
