CLASS POSITION DEPARTMENT
Full - Time Accountant Accounting
JOB SUMMARY
To complete the accounting functions of the hospital on an accurate and timely basis within the framework of objectives and policies established by the Chief Financial Officer
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.
Completes county banking transfer by Friday of each workweek.
2.
Completes the trial balance by the 10 th
working day of each month.
3.
Balances general ledger to accounts receivable by the 10 th
working day of each month.
4.
Balances general ledger to accounts payable trial balance by the 10 th working day of each month.
5.
Completes bank reconciliation on all bank accounts by the 10 th working day of each month.
6.
Completes financial statements by the 15 th
working day of each month.
7.
Assist with payroll in the absence of the Payroll Clerk.
8.
Posts general journal entries on a monthly basis.
9.
Matches accounts payable with statements and codes to correct expense accounts weekly.
10.
Prepares, secures signatures and releases authorized accounts payable checks.
11.
Completes external and internal reports on a timely basis.
12.
Balances payroll to general ledger on a monthly basis.
13.
Maintains fixed asset and depreciation listing.
14.
Balances fixed assets listing to general ledger each month.
15.
Maintains records for insurance coverage for the hospital.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Has knowledge of employee’s insurance benefits.
2.
Other special projects or duties assigned by Controller, CFO or CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, business, or finance or five years experience in a hospital accounting setting.
2.
Two year’s experience, preferably in the health care field.
