Worldwide experience includes onshore and offshore projects including work for most of the major oil companies, mining companies and World Bank projects. Specialize in magnetic and gravity interpretation, including 2D and 3D modeling, survey design and quality control, project management, and prospect level evaluation. Member SEG and current President for Pacific Coast Section of SEG (since 2012). Bill Bartling: Currently District Deputy for Department of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources in Bakersfield California. Formerly General Manager Borehole Imaging for OptaSense Ltd. focusing on VSP and microseismic monitoring and processing from downhole DAS sensors, President and CEO of SR2020, a borehole geophysics company specializing in high resolution VSP and microseismic monitoring and Technical Advisor to Ambrose Oil and Gas, a startup oil and gas company out of Houston, Texas. Prior history, spent 15 years at Chevron in Exploration, Production and Research, 2 years at Occidental managing Technical Computing, 2 years as SVP of Software Engineering at CogniSeis Development (now Paradigm Geophysical) and 5 years at Silicon Graphics in charge of global industry marketing for the energy, sciences and education segments. Member SEG, AAPG, SPE and EAGE. Current Vice President of Pacific Coast SEG (since 2012). Jim Ballard: Currently Sr. Geophysical Advisor at CRC working Elk Hills, before the spin-off he was with Occidental since 2003. He worked international new ventures in Houston, then the Permian basin before coming out to Bakersfield. He was project manager for seismic programs in Peru, Suriname and West Texas. Before Oxy he was with Conoco and ConocoPhillips 24 years. One of his first assignments was in Ventura interpreting offshore California data, acquired an early marine 3D survey. He was a geoscience manager in Midland and then started international work (AEO) in Houston, generating prospects in Venezuela and elsewhere in South America, Southeast Asia and the Caspian region. He earned an MS from the University of Montana in geology/geophysics and joined the SEG in 1980. Dan Szymanski: Owner of DLS Consulting, an oil and gas advisory company. Currently serves as chairman to Citadel Exploration, an oil E&P startup. Previous gigs include Oxy (USA, International, Elk Hills, Oxy Resources California, Occidental Petroleum, Vintage Production), Chevron and Tenneco. Silver (haired) member of AAPG & SEG. Acting Treasurer of the PCS-SEG since Eighteen-Aught-Six. Dan threatens to retire someday and hopes to hand off the esteemed Treasurer position to some unwitting – er, I mean – enthusiastic young professional.
