ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES
FOR THE 2013
HUNTERDON COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS ANNUAL
ART CONTEST & EXHIBITION
ELIGIBILITY:
Any artist, age 60 or over, currently residing in Hunterdon County,
may submit three entries completed within the last three years.
These entries must not have been entered in a previous
Hunterdon County Senior Citizens Annual Art Contest and Exhibition.
The first place winners are required to compete in the State Art Show in
October, 2013 held at Meadow Lakes PHS Senior Living in East
Windsor, NJ.
CLASSIFICATION:
Professional: Persons claiming professional status must have
1) Sold the types of art entered in the contest/exhibition
through commercial channels or
2) Exhibited in a professional gallery; or
3) Held professional membership in a guild or association.
Non-Professional: Persons who do not meet any of the above criteria
will be considered non-professionals.

All work must be the original creation of the artist. (mounting,
matting and framing excluded). (No kits or copies of others
original artwork will be judged.)
2) Hanging of artwork, including photography, must have
no dimensions greater than ►36" outside edge of frame
and no less than 11" including matting and frame. Free Standing
Sculpture may not exceed ►18" in any dimension. This includes
the base.

3) All entries MUST BE READY FOR display. ALL HANGING
ARTWORK MUST HAVE WIRE SECURELY FASTENED. NO
TAPE OR SAW TOOTH HOOKS.

ENTRIES NOT PROPERLY WIRED CAN NOT BE
GUARANTEED TO BE HUNG or JUDGED. The artwork
should be protected, where necessary, with glass, Plexiglas, Mylar or
other clear, protective material. Use of Plexiglas, not glass, on
hanging pieces over 24" in any dimension is required, due to size and
weight. Wet paintings are not acceptable.
4) All artwork submitted must be occupied with registration forms.
(PLEASE PRINT INFORMATION especially NAME & TITLE of
artwork) The registration form should indicate the following: county,
artist, address, and title of work, medium, datepainted, and size,
professional or non-professional status and an approximate dollar value
if the artwork is for sale. Registration forms should not be pre-attached
on artwork.
5) Library Selection – on the registration form means that you may
choose one picture that you would like to have displayed at the library
on RT 12 for the month of July. You do not have to submit one, it’s
your choice. Just mark with an “X” if you want to participate on the
registration form of titled artwork.
While all possible care will be taken to safeguard the artwork, the
sponsoring organizations will not assume responsibility for loss or
damages incurred.
CATEGORIES:
The following are categories of eligible work:
1) Acrylic
2) Drawing - including pencil, pen, ink, graphite, markers
3) Computer Imagery - artwork created by computer only,
using a pixel-based painting or graphics program,
such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Corel
Painter.
4) Mixed Media – combines two or more media, no one of
which clearly predominates; includes collage and
assemblage. Must name medias used on registration
form.
5) Oil
6) Pastel - including chalk, charcoal and oil pastel
7) Photography – includes any image created using a
light-capturing devise such as a film-based or digital
camera, scanner, pinhole camera, etc., in any part of the
process Please note: This includes color, black & white
or tinted photos, digitally manipulated photos,
photogram’s, etc
8) Print – such as etching, engraving, lithograph, woodcut,
monoprint, montotype, silkscreen, etc.
9) Sculpture - any work designed in 3-dimensions,
carved or constructed in any medium, abstract or
figurative, painted or unpainted. Free Standing
Sculpture may not exceed ►18" in any
dimension. This includes the base.
10) Watercolor - includes gouache
NOTE** Changes for Hunterdon County Scene
11) Hunterdon County Scene – A landscape that evokes
the rural beauty of Hunterdon County.
***** NO ARTWORK MAY BE REMOVED PRIOR TO THE CLOSE
OF THE EXHIBITION. *****
****If Blue Ribbon Winner at County Level Show, winner
must be represented at State Show****
