Go through course outline and expectations. Begin glossary and media journal. Memento and Media Art: Viewing and researching Michel Gondrey’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In class essay. Discussion on Media Art narrative structure including flashbacks and non-linear structure. Cult Genre Tutorial Research: Researching cult genre styles such as Film Noir, Classical Hollywood, Surrealism, French New Wave and German Expressionism. Wag the Dog & Control Room Comparison Essay: Research the context of political satire in Wag the Dog and Control Room. Persuasive techniques in war coverage and public perception. Researching Persuasive Media: Conventions of Political Persuasion within specific historical context. Time will be focused on reshoots. Post-Production: Editing, colour grading and audio for Major Production. Film will be exported and submitted to receive feedback before submitting to SCSA. SCSA Documentation: Writing an in depth reflection of Major Production. Maximum length of 5 pages to supplement the production sent to SCSA. Films will be screened, marked with feedback provided. Films may be altered in class if time permits, otherwise this will need to happen in students own time. Introduction to SCSA stimulus will happen during this time. Posting Final Productions & Documentation to SCSA in Perth: Final checking and exporting of Major Productions. Final checking and printing of Documentation. Copying Productions to USB and completing official paperwork. Promotional Poster: Using Photoshop and knowledge of narrative still image design students will create a promotional poster for their film.
