EXTRA NEWS
o This week we finished our lessons on Martin Luther King Jr. Our test will be Thursday. If you would
like to help your child study, they should know these facts: MLK was born in Georgia in 1929. He
was an African American minister. He gave his famous speech in Washington DC. His dream
was that all people would be treated fairly. Every January we celebrate MLK Day.
o In math this week we have been working on recognizing what is in the tens place and what is in the
ones place. We also practiced counting by 2’s to 50, and 10’s and 5’s to 500. These are third quarter
math goals. Your child may practice them at home for extra credit.
o In religion we have been reading Bible Stories. Can you child tell you about Noah, Moses, Abraham,
and David?
o We took our spelling test today. I did not count Thursday night spelling as a grade due to the snow
day. Thank you to those who still practiced!
o Due to the snow day, we will not start our next Star of the Week until next Thursday.
o Due to the snow day, Day 100 will now be on February 10.
o Please have your child read The Sleeping Pig from their reading book sometime over the weekend.
