Procedures of Spanish Class
Entering the Classroom:
 Enter quietly and sit in your assigned seat.
 Be prepared for class.
 You will need a pen or pencil, Spanish book, a three ring binder with loose leaf paper or a folder
and notebook.
 You will take out your HW from the previous night, put it on your desk and complete the warmup on the SmartBoard.
 Lateness will not be tolerated. You have three warnings if you are late, after that you will
receive a teacher detention. If you continue to be late after receiving a teacher detention, you will
be written up to your respective Vice Principal for each instance. Please remember, the start of
each marking period is a new beginning.
Exiting the Classroom:
 If you do not have your agenda book, you do not leave the room.
 If you need to use the lavatory, go to guidance, nurse or main office or your locker, you should
try to do that during the time between classes. However, if this is not possible, reserve these
trips for the beginning or end of class rather than interrupting class time instruction and/or
activities.
 If you do exit the classroom in the beginning of class, it is your responsibility to put your HW
on your desk and complete the warm-up. If not, you will receive a zero for those activities.
 If you leave your homework, class work, pen or pencil, binder, folder and/or notebook in your
locker you will not be given an opportunity to go back to your locker.
 The bell does not dismiss you. I will dismiss you. When the class is seated and quiet, I will let
you know that you are all dismissed.
Tests and Quizzes
 If you are absent on the day of a test and/or quiz, it is your responsibility to make it up.
 If the test and/or quiz is not made up, it will be a zero in the grade book. Please make it up as
soon as possible.
Class Participation
 Class participation is tallied and counted on a daily basis.
 You need 30 tallies (points) to earn a 100%. A 29 equals a 99%, a 28 equals 98%, a 27 equals a
97%, etc.
 The tallies (points) include but are not limited to preparedness, volunteering, participating in
classroom activities, etc.
Homework
 No late HW will be accepted.
 If you are absent, HW and/or handouts from the day(s) you are absent will be in the black file
organizer. This is located in the back of the room with labeled with your period.
 If you are absent and need to show me your HW, please put it in the black file organizer under
your respective period. Make sure your name is on it and you write ‘Absent’ on top of it.
Warm up
 It is your responsibility to complete your warm up everyday as you enter the class.
 I will give you a new warm up sheet at the beginning of every week.
 If you are absent the day the warm up sheet is given, extra warm up sheets will be located in the
black file organizer labeled ‘warm up.’
 Warm up sheets will be collected at random at the end of random weeks. It will be
unannounced.
 Warm ups are counted as a class work grade.
 Each day of the warm up is worth 20%; five days equal 100%.
Using Materials in the Classroom
 On the table in the back there is an electric pencil sharpener, hole puncher, pens, pencils, stapler,
tape and tissues. Please do not take any of these materials off the table.
 Please sharpen your pencil at the beginning of class or when I am done with instruction as you do
not want to interrupt the learning of your fellow classmates.
 If you use materials given to you, please use them with care. We need to make the materials last
the entire school year.
Listening to and/or Responding
 Raise your hand when we are having class discussion and/or instruction.
 Actively listen and pay attention.
 I will give specific instructions on when to call out answers instead of raising your hand.
When Visitors are in the Classroom
 Continue with your work
 Be polite to the guest, answer questions if asked
 Maintain work if the teacher is called away
 If appropriate, engage in conversation with the visitor
Miscellaneous
 Please throw out trash in the trash can instead of littering the room. There is a trash can in the
front of the room and in the back of the room.
 Please recycle all paper products. There is a recycling box in the front of the room and in the
back of the room.
 Please do not write on your desk.
 Please do not crack your gum or blow bubbles.
 Please put purses and other materials that are not related to Spanish class under your desk.
 Please use manners and be polite at all times.
 Please have respect for your teacher, classmates, school and yourselves.
***I expect you to follow the classroom procedures as well as those outlined in your student handbook.
Remember that respect is something that we all deserve and earn.***
