Labels (displayed) for common classroom objects (bookshelf, chair, books) Chart of student names Big books attractively displayed Busy Beavers or Detective Dog Administration guide for Busy Beavers or Detective Dog Concepts of Print Checklist Word Test Card and High Frequency Word List Procedure: Show the student his or her nametag (first name) written in upper and lower case letters. Say, “Tell me the names of the letters in your name.” If the student is able to correctly identify the letters in the first name, try the last name. Administer the Print Concepts Checklist: Introduce the book, Busy Beavers or Detective Dog and administer the Print Concepts Checklist following the guide. Word Test: Show the student the Word Test card.
