Latin American Coalition – Multiple Positions
Immigration Legal Assistant – Hrs/Week: 10-15 Assist BIA Accredited Representative with a
range of immigration related cases including: family based petitions and applications, motions,
waivers, TPS, asylum, NACARA, VAWA, U and T Visas, and related services. Excellent
opportunity to gain critical practical and substantive skills in the field of immigration law, become
knowledgeable in issues related to detention and deportation, and assist in development of

Hrs/Week: 10 Intern supports the Coalition’s Director of Communications by providing project

Relations, Nonprofit Management, Graphic Design, or Organizational Studies.
Resource Center Assistant
Hrs/Week: 10 The Resource Center is the first point of contact the Latin American Coalition has
with all of its clients. It is the central hub of the organization, connecting Latino families to the
resources available in the community. The main role of the intern is to assist with providing
services to clients by registering walk-ins, answering phone calls, providing information in a
timely manner, updating information resources, and conducting further research on specific
projects. This position would be ideal for students or professionals in the following fields: Social
Work, Education, International Studies, Human Services, Spanish, or Latin American Studies.

Today, the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office within the Department of Administration
announced that they are accepting additional applications for the 2013 State Government
Internship Program. The program has six remaining paid internship positions: five in Raleigh

and one in Lincolnton, NC. Internships would start May 20th and end on July 26, 2013.
Application deadline is postmarked by April 22nd.
“In today’s job market, it is tough for students to find paid employment that provides real work
experience in their chosen field of study,” said Stephanie Nantz, Executive Director of the Youth
Advocacy and Involvement Office. “This program provides students with essential job skills and
also assists state agencies with accomplishing their mission.”
The State Government Internship Program accepts applications from North Carolina residents
attending a college, university, technical institute or community college. It offers students realworld experience in a wide range of state government careers, such as: communications,
computer sciences, construction management, criminal justice, engineering, social work,
psychology and public administration (a complete listing of majors is available at

Interns earn a stipend of $8.25 per hour for 40 hours per week, for 10 weeks. In addition, interns
also participate in seminars, tours or other activities designed to broaden their perspective of
public service and state government. More than 3,600 students have participated in the State
Government Internship program since its inception in 1969.

North Carolina Dance Theatre – Summer Intensive Internship
The Summer Intensive Intern is a key member of the School of Dance staff. Reporting to the
Pre-Professional Division Administrator, the intern provides important support for the program
and works directly with the School of Dance staff, director, faculty and summer intensive
dancers. This is a wonderful opportunity to go behind-the-scenes with one of the Nation’s
premier dance programs and gain useful experience in school administration.
North Carolina Dance Theatre Summer Intensive accepts Intermediate and Advanced students
ages 11-22 by audition and dancers learn from North Carolina Dance Theatre’s renown School
directors, faculty and guest artists. The students train 9am – 5:30pm six days a week and
receive instruction in a variety of dance genres from classical ballet to more contemporary and
modern forms.
